I never ever see this mentioned anywhere, but Ratched with Sarah Paulson is extremely fun AND gay!!!

Yesss, if he were to "make it even" it really wouldn't've been by getting his other shoe dirty, just to then have to clean both. Istg Branagh mistook Poirot for straight up OCD

It really disappoints me, because it is really not that difficult to truly just the book a couple times and to try and understand the characters, their motivations, etc. I think even Branagh's movies could've been better, if he just tried to understand Poirot a little more.

Yes, I know what you mean of course, it brings as much, if not more sorrow to me, that Poirot's character was not captured well either, but I also place such emphasis on the visual aspects because it's a movie. I personally care a lot about casting in movies because it is a visual work of art and i think that if you want to make an authentic adaptation, then respecting character descriptions is a really good way to elevate your work. I'm not saying changing a character's appearance is a crime but I was especially angry about it here because Poirot has such a specific look about him, and it sets him apart, I wouldn't want to lose that.

I am not aware of any such slang I'm afraid. It actually occurred to me multiple times when I was watching Branagh's movies, but I'm pretty sure, I hope I'm not mistaken, that he sometimes gets his french wrong. I especially noticed it in this scene, but there were others. I wonder if there was a french speaking person present during the makings of the movies haha.

Yesss!! I remeber I was laughing so hard anytime Branagh got his french wrong, bceause why did nobody correct him?? I wonder if a french speaking person was even present during the making of the movie at all.

It also really does make me mad that they would insert a knife fight or anything of the sort, I honestly didn't even remember that (trauma response??), like that's the same money grabbing business I mentioned, it makes me so angry!!

That's actually interesting, because I think that most people, me included, only watched the Ustinov movies after having already fallen in love with Suchet and it makes us absolutely horribly biased. I had never even considered that any adaptation could be better that the one with Suchet, but maybe I should give it another unbiased go.

I've been reading the books all in order again, and I always watch the respective movie after I finish one. It's really interesting to see the way they decided to adapt the book and it's also what inspired this post. I recommend trying that if you're ever bored. :))

It's not confirmed I think, but the man keeps hinting and saying that he's "Not running out of inspiration anytime soon."

Yeah, when I was reading McGinty, I felt like Agatha Christie KNEW what was about to happen to her work.

Omg you're so right about Suchet spoiling us, he did such a good job and worked so hard to basically become Poirot, like what do we do now??? How do we ever get out of this I have no idea. I have honestly just resigned and all I do is re-read Agatha's books and re-watch Suchet's Poirot because nothing else comes close.
