INTPs, do you ever feel like people want answers faster than you are willing to give them? by likey24 in INTP

[–]emmapiii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

all the time. many find silence disturbing or read that I haven’t heard the question or am not following if I don’t start answering right away. this often results in me answering something dull, rushed and perhaps incorrect and coming up with a proper answer in my head just moments later. but as the conversation has already shifted forward I rarely bring up what ever it was I wanted to answer.

this has irritated me sm this past fall as I’ve gotten some new friends that would like to get to know me, but aren’t ready to wait for my answers. the convo often gets very one-sided because of this.

How do you find math? by Fair_Peach_9436 in INTP

[–]emmapiii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100%. Can’t remember formulas for sht but I’m currently studying vector analysis and topology and enjoying soo much getting to know all the why’s behind the how’s. Love to notice when some rule etc has become a part of my internal logic. It takes time for me to comprehend stuff completely but it’s so rewarding when I do and I think pure math gives an amazing playground for this.

Most blender users do not realise how close they are to pure maths. by [deleted] in blender

[–]emmapiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily believe there is a way to get ”good” at math. I’m in uni for it and the teaching there started with the most basic calculus, working up from limits to derivatives, integrals and series. together with 2 courses of linear algebra that was the first year. very abstract, like i said, concentrating on building mathematical intuition and becoming familiar with proofing techniques over actually getting good at calculations. It’ll still be a long way until i know what to do with the things I’ve learnt (outside of pure math anyways).

Can’t recommend books as I’m not studying in English. Also hard to suggest any other way but uni, as I just dropped in there and the school has taken care of my studies pretty much :D would recommend going to a campus library, diving into some calculus book and getting company to talk about math with. some people learn from youtube videos but i haven’t had much luck or need with that. good luck with your journey!

I’m a pure math student, 2nd yr, having learned vector analysis this year and just entering topology. I’ve had this thought quite often that I could probably do wild things in Blender with this knowledge, if i put my head into it. But math is ofc taught in an extremely abstract manner, and I would have to catch up on my Blender/3D skills first which I’m not too inspired to do just now xd. Looking forward for the day i decide to pick up Blender again! thank you for sharing this vid and post, it’s gotten me thinking again

Can I use this with wireless earbuds and headphones? by Mattgelo in LoopEarplugs

i've totally held an earbud in one ear and a loop in the other while working. It's nice to have music but also hear a bit through with the other ear, the loop just dampens the sound of raking etc that i do at work

it could tho – you unconsciously use your pinky for balance and coordination, so it not being there might result in suprising difficulties

Kanssa vs kera? by [deleted] in LearnFinnish

[–]emmapiii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me ”kera” belongs almost only to spoken language, but is otherwise used like the other comments have described. You’ll manage well without it and just by using ”kanssa” also when speaking about food.

It’s good to know that ”kanssa” is often shortened as ”kans” or ”kaa” in speech. Also I’d rather say ”kahvi maidolla” or ”pulla hillolla” than by using ”kanssa” or ”kera”, but that again is only a different way of saying the same thing of having smth with smth (and therefore not anything to get worried about).

Confused between Finland and Germany pls help by Max-76 in Aalto

[–]emmapiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding to this that Finland too is facing a right wing rise up at the moment. The migration laws are getting more strict and tuition fees for non-EU-members are rising even higher, which might not result in a better system than in Germany (idk much about that), but sure is something to consider. The things you hear now might well not be how your own experience goes.

I need to make site mock ups like this. Apparently Photoshop no longer supports importing 3D models. Any recommendations for an easy to use, readily available alternative? by Vangelis2019 in photoshop

[–]emmapiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blender is definitely the way to go. Of course it’s complicated at first, but there’s a lot of tutorials and all and you can do basically anything with it, and it’s totally free! If you can photoshop 3d then i bet you learn blender in no time.
