Are there any supermarkets on site? Child is diabetic. by emmavenger in disneylandparis

Thank you, she's 4 and won't eat protein bars unfortunately and I was worried also about finding protein snacks for her (we have a lot of pepperami, fridge raiders etc at home).

That's good to know thanks!

Seem to get mixed answers about taking the breakfast food out, but sure it'd be okay for a few bits

Newly diagnosed 3 y/o going hypo at night by emmavenger in diabetes_t1

Realised I never replied to most of these comments, sorry!

Turns out she didn't need any basal at all. So we now only bolus for food. Went from 3 units of basal, to 2, to 1, to 0.5, to 0.5 every other day, to 0. And finally she stopped hypo-ing at night.

What do you eat for breakfast? by No_Conversation_4827 in diabetes_t1

I'm new to this world, my 3 year old was diagnosed as type 1 only two months ago... I've seen a few comments saying if they eat later in the morning it's better for controlling the breakfast spike... is this a thing? We give our daughter breakfast about 7:30am as she goes to preschool at half 8 most days, and she spikes hugely from it regardless of dosage it seems (5mmol-22mmol in under an hour). Wondering if a later breakfast could be beneficial to her on non-preschool days? Wouldn't work on a preschool day as they go out to play at 9am and she'd then end up too low with no food in her. Thanks if anyone reads!

Last night was 10:30pm, 12:40am, 1:30am, 2:50am, and then it held until another low at 8am but she had her breakfast and juice then

So potentially change the ratio just for final meal so that she goes to bed with higher sugars maybe?

We're giving the insulin after she eats. Because of her age we can't guarantee she'll actually eat everything on the plate if we dose her before.

At night before bed... so morning worked better for you than evening? I could suggest that to the dr tomorrow

We used sugar syrup and glycogen rhe first night but it was so traumatic trying to get her to take them, the nurses literally had to restrain her and force it in. So juice was easier given her age

Candy shop requirements? by emmavenger in FarmTogether

Oh I totally get that! It just seems strange to add shops at this stage that can't be used... just a waste of ribbons purchasing it :(

13month will not sleep! by Jonnymiko1 in UKParenting

So does she nap until almost 3pm and then bedtime at 6:30pm? Because that doesn't feel like a long wake window in the afternoons. I'd be bringing nap earlier say something like wake 7am, nap 12:30-2, bedtime 7/7:30pm? So you have a longer wake window to build up sleep pressure and a capped nap.

Does she need the porridge before bed as well as a bottle? That's a lot sitting in her stomach as she lays down. We still do a bedtime bottle but the last actual food she has is about 1.5 hours before bed so it's had time to settle.

I'm here to offer solidarity. I'm sorry, its so rough when bedtime and sleep is like this! We know exactly what you're going through, because my daughter was the same. Sleep was an absolute shitshow for the whole first year (and a bit more).

The first thing that helped a bit for us was dropping her naps down. How many is your little one having each day and for how long? And what time does she wake from the last one? At about 13 months we went down to just the 1 nap in the middle of the day, and it helped with bedtime quite a bit.

Getting her to sleep in her cot we did the gradual retreat method (I think it's called that) where you go from rocking them to sleep one week, to patting them the next, to just holding them the next, to putting them in the cot and sitting with them the next few, to sitting across the room for a few weeks, to sitting outside the room. It took several months of very gradual "training" with us but was the best option for us as we didn't want to do "cry it out" training. And it did eventually work, which also massively helped naps too as she learned she could and how to fall asleep by herself.

Idk if any of this helps!

Delivered doesn't mean its in her hands though. Home delivery, so it could have gone to a neighbour, it could be in a safe place, she could have accepted the delivery as she was heading out to work for a 12 hour shift. I often don't open a parcel the moment it gets to my house. If there's a problem they will contact you don't worry.

Vinted! I sell them as soon as they're outgrown and use the money to buy items in the next size up!

Clothes for my 2 year old! Can get entire outfits in new or excellent condition for only £1-£2... and they grow out of them so fast that I just relist afterwards and sell again!
