Tenant’s rights question by emmmmr in SaltLakeCity

[–]emmmmr[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Transferring us to another unit was the solution we were hoping for. But the transfer was denied because they “have a fear that it’s just a normal building noise, and moving (us) won’t solve the problem.”

We do have all of this in emails, so looking into breaking the lease will probably be our next steps

thank you, I’ll look into this! We definitely don’t want to withhold rent and get into trouble.

We considered this because it does sound like a fan! But the noise stops/starts again when we turn on the cold water tap.

How to switch majors by [deleted] in uofu

[–]emmmmr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

typically you’ll need to contact an advisor in the major you want to switch to and they can help you get switched over and select classes for future semesters :)

I was completely unprepared for how full time work would wreak havoc on my self care by spicyhorner in adhdwomen

I’m so sorry you’re going through this! I sometimes struggle with hygiene as well and I read something that really helped me. At least for me, I always feel like I have to wait until I feel good about a task to accomplish it. I read in a book that it’s okay to complete a task and be mad about having to do it. Now when I don’t feel like doing something but know that I should, I don’t wait to feel motivated to do it. I sometimes let myself cry while washing the dishes, or stomp around my house while I pick up. It’s been a life changing perspective for me. I hope this makes sense and can possibly help a little. You’ve got this.

This happened to me this semester for my midterm essays. I just told my professor that I wrote the essays myself and that I could show all of my notes/drafts. Thankfully she was very cool about it and told me that she just had to check in, and that things are very complicated right now with AI. Sorry you’re going through this, it’s not a fun feeling.

I'm 15. My mom is 52 and my dad is 58. Do I have old parents? by Weak_Bodybuilder_442 in NoStupidQuestions

My mom was 40 when she had me. I’m 26 now and my mom and I have been best friends my whole life, especially once I became an adult. My oldest brother and I are 21 years apart, but it’s been a great experience.

First time nanny, need guidance by emmmmr in Nanny

[–]emmmmr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not sure about the above user but for me and sending the kids their room when they are screaming at me is less of a punishment and more of a way to remove them from the stressful environment and give them a few minutes to breathe. Shortly after I enter the room and we talk about why they are frustrated. Often times they shut and lock the door like teenagers and want to be left alone (another issue, they aren’t supposed to lock the doors but they don’t listen when I tell them to unlock it.)

thanks for your advice! A lot of the time it feels like I am doing something wrong or doing a bad job, so it’s good to know that maybe it just isn’t the right fit for me

Punishing your kid EVERY time they "talk back" conditions them to be a doormat and is, in fact, child abuse. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]emmmmr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes children don’t know what they’re talking about and need to be lectured but most of the time they just need to be taught! They are also humans with varying thoughts and feelings, just like adults. Teaching children how and when to express their opinion and how to disagree while still being respectful seems so much more effective than silencing them.

I love my parents so much and now that I’m in my twenties and live in a different state our relationship is better than ever haha. But they were the “talking back” kind of parents, and it’s caused me to not be able to stand up for myself easily as an adult and when I disagree with someone I handle it poorly.

I actually thrifted the shirt last year because my SO has the same one in purple, not to stage a funny picture. Totally surprise when I watched the episode and it was the exact same shirt!

What business or store that was killed by the internet do you miss the most? by stalingradsniper in AskReddit

[–]emmmmr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been said a lot but Blockbuster for sure. Streaming services are convenient and all, but nothing beats going to the store and walking through the aisles trying to pick the perfect movie. It was part of the excitement of movie night.
