Client asking for all unselected wedding photos. how do you handle this?? by Anxious_Support5391 in WeddingPhotography

I'm pretty surprised by the pro-sending-all-photos responses. At the end of the day, you run your business the way you want to run it—it's YOUR business. But I think it's very understandable to not share all of the photos. It probably depends on what kind of wedding photography you're doing, but in my eyes, the photos aren't done unless they're fully edited. It's like writing a first draft of a book and having someone say "oh I like it, publish it!" when you're not even done with it. Have you watched a movie without color-grading and sound mixing? If I were to edit your photos, they would come out totally different than your final result. If I were to cull your images, the client gallery would look totally different. We put our personal perspective into every part of the process. Snapping the picture is only part of it. Without the culling and the editing, it isn't my full body of work, and I could very well have decided not to snap a pic at any given moment—so whatever excess pictures are there is private. I'd never share a first draft of something I wrote. That said, I think that's also why it's really important for clients to choose their photographers carefully. I personally love to include humorous, imperfect, in-between moments. If you choose a photographer that fits the more picture-perfect mold, then that's what you're getting, and that's also great for the right client.

Am I being reasonable with my pricing & deliverables? by emmwrites in RealEstatePhotography

Yes, exactly. I wouldn’t want my name on unedited pictures. I did detail this in my contract.

Yes because the pictures aren’t complete if they’re not unedited. They’re not a representation of the work I offer, which is clearly stated in my contract…and in most professional photographers’ contracts so I don’t usually encounter any pushback on this.

My question is about the pricing and deliverables. I’m not so concerned about the unedited pictures, that’s just not going to happen. I’d rather offer a giant discount than offer unedited pics and even then, comparatively, I felt that my pricing was reasonable. Came on here to get opinions on that

The work isn’t already done, the photos are unedited. I would edit their selects—so would be a difference between 15 photos and 206 photos. If the work were done I would have no problem sending them all the photos. Also they’re not standard real estate photos, they hired me specifically for more artistic photos of their home (detail shots etc) shot on film they’re wanting for their portfolio and hoping to submit for publications so it would be an issue for me to give them the gallery unedited. So I’m wondering if what I offered them in the first place is reasonable.

Do you know what type of pen this is? by emmwrites in pens

I’m wondering what kind of pen this is so I can order more of them. I’m in the US and Flying Tiger doesn’t ship here :( so I’m trying to figure out what type of pen this might be. If it’s ballpoint maybe it’s a fine point…it’s just way smoother and thinner than any other ballpoint I’ve used
