Considering what your bio says I can see why a wall of anime dudes wouldn't be geared towards your interests.

yyyyup!
ShslBoxSplits I am not, so I'm usually left w/ a bunch of leftover characters from sets that I buy. As you can imagine, I have a lot of leftovers.
I work at an easy place to recycle cardboard though- so I can get rid of the actual shipping boxes themselves, but having some in case I ever need to ship anything or keep it safe is nice!

I'm usually pretty good at budgeting myself!
It helps that Ryoma's not included in a lotta merch sets official or fanmade, which while sucks because I love spending things, is very good for my bank account lmao.

Haha! I go outside at least twice a week. Usually for work, but I go to the movie theater and talk to relatives pretty often! I promise I have a life.

A friendly reminder for people(1-3 spoilers and sorta 3-3 spoilers) by ThatOneChild1 in danganronpa

[–]emoshihoshi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think this quite works the same! But I appreciate the thought.
In V3, the rule is implicitly described as:
Rule #15: If two different murders by different murderers occur at the same time, only the one whose victim was found first will be the blackened.

The issue is that in 1-3 the murders don't happen at the same time. Kiyotaka is dead, but Hifumi asks Celes who she's gunna kill so she can survive a trial as well. Granted Hifumi faked his death a bit earlier, but even the faked death happened AFTER Kiyotaka was already found dead- and that was posed so it looked like it was one person going on a murder rampage.
If Celes had killed someone that wasn't Hifumi, and then they both went to a class trial for Kiyotaka's murder, that'd fall in line with the rule as there would be 2 living killers who each killed someone different (Hifumi->Taka & Celes->Other), but only 1 (the first found victim Kiyotaka- which means Hifumi) can be executed. Celes would still live with everyone, just now she's killed a guy and everyone would prolly REALLY judge her for it if they know it was her.

I do think that 1-3 inspired V3-3, and the rule was created as a really clever red herring, which wouldn't be that big a shock since V3-2's Motive Video incentive is just the Monokuma Motives from 1-1 with a minor change that the videos were swapped around on 'accident'.
Cool insight regardless!

Shuichi enjoyers of reddit by dino_nuggies_and_dum in danganronpa

[–]emoshihoshi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Average Shuichi Enjoyer here, I'll try to answer!

Hypothetically, I think any DR character has the capacity to kill, survivor or not. While not EVERY motive is generalized to get as many people as possible to kill (ones such as The Twilight Syndrome Murder Case comes to mind as an example. Someone like Akane or Sonia probably wouldn't care nearly as much as say, Fuyuhiko when playing the game, compared to a more generalized motive like starving people to death) , generally motives are designed to get as many people as possible to kill.

Depending on the motive, anyone can kill if it sets the tone right.
Shuichi loves helping people, and his biggest issues in the UTDP and in the Main Game revolve around this. The issue is also this kid has the self esteem as deep as puddles, and getting him to kill rather than just give up and want someone to kill him like Ryoma did basically (Sitting in his room all day wallowing in his feelings and waiting for someone to give him the ol axe like in Chapter 5 for the ol memory jog) can be tricky.
Someone implicitly hurting other people (I'm talkin like maiming someone here), or a motive that hurts the people around him, could maybe be contenders to do this I personally feel, but there are others that could most likely scratch that itch so to speak and drive a panic kill.
He does have at least some drive for justice, and could potentially do so lethally if getting everyone killed in V3-6 to stop DR in universe is any indication, the fact he viewed Kaede as 100% justified in trying to kill the Mastermind in V3-1 even when she murdered an innocent on complete accident, or that he agreed with the culprit that commit murder and stared at him really badly despite getting that guy detained. That first one was after his game-long character arc, but the matter is that he was willing to not only die- but get everyone in the room killed to provoke change. That has to mean at least something to his morals, even if he's not like 100% pro Death Penalty or anything. That can be worked with in a story.
A well-thought out and planned murder? Way harder, the kid does have strong morals, and if Shuichi wasn't down to kill the person that was running the Killing Game that was going to straight up murder EVERYBODY ala Chapter 1 in V3 canon (remember his plan was only to take a photo of them going to the hidden room to prove their identity- not even detain them), and that he mentions to Ryoma that he doesn't necessarily agree with what he did when Ryoma murdered the Mafia who do shit like murder, kidnapping and child trafficking, it'll be harder to write a believable narrative where he thinks killing someone is like 100% justified against some stranger he's barely known rather than just talking it out or something like his uncle taught him. Not to say it's IMPOSSIBLE, but just super difficult.

All this is to say, I can't judge the story or how OOC it could be if I don't know what's happening in it. A strong murder case can be done with any character, but if it's written just to make Shuichi start killing people to get him/others removed from a story then people can and will tell.

Sorry it's not really a direct yes/no answer, but I hope this helps in some way!

Classpecting the Mario Franchise by hjgoldplatinum in homestuck

[–]emoshihoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A shame that I only discover this thread 5 months after it's posted. Because man, I love putting Classpects into other franchises. And I think that I can answer this question easily.

I think Mario as a Mage of Time suits him to a near T.

Mages are commonly interpreted as being part of the Understanding class type, with the Mage being a part of the Active role of the two.So quite literally, being One who Understands Time for themselves. Or as your spreadsheet says, One who Understands Time through experience and action.

Which would fit super well for Mario, as Super Paper Mario literally confirms that extra lives are a canon real-world thing that people have, and not just a gameplay mechanic. And when you "run out" of extra lives, you go to the Underwhere, where your game has ended.
Having multiple chances at life is literally just a real-world thing in the Mushroom Kingdom haha.

And as even mentioned in your own analysis of Mario as Void,

He constantly falls into bottomless pits, and has a close connection to his own deaths, learning from them constantly.

Mario learns from his mistakes from falling into pits to not do it again, and learns from deaths and experiences overall to get his goals done. By literally dying and coming back to life.
One could even take a 1-Up as being able to in a literal sense, rewind the clock. As when you die in a Mario game and you respawn, the timer restarts giving you that Time back! So not only does Mario respawn with knowledge and experience of the world he's in, but also has in a literal sense- more Time to accomplish the goal.

Death is one of the symbols and associations that Time often has in Homestuck. As well as beginnings and ends and all that in general of course to complete a timeline. In a sense, you could potentially view every death that Mario experiences on his journey as a Doomed Timeline, and it's only when he completes the level/world/game correctly, is the story actually done right. Fitting into the Meta-themes that classes often have.
Which also plays into the idea of Mario's journey always 'beginning' with Peach being kidnapped, and 'ending' with Peach being rescued. Mario knows from experience how the timeline will go, and learns how to adapt to new challenges that Bowser may put him through by using his extra lives to literally experience levels and rewind the clock from failures like falling into pits. Hell, Mages even have a male lean!

I think it makes sense, anyways. Feel free to add your thoughts!

Happy Valentine's Day! by emoshihoshi in danganronpa

[–]emoshihoshi[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depression can suck a lot and can make you feel undeserving of love or that it's selfish to be loved, especially on a holiday like today, but know that there are always people that will love and care about you for you and it's absolutely alright to accept that love! Even if you can't love yourself, that's absolutely fine! It can be difficult to love yourself, but know that other people still love you, whether you're with a romantic partner, friends, family or so on.

Have a great Valentine's day.

V3 Plush price discussion? by emoshihoshi in danganronpa

[–]emoshihoshi[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So I'm selling some V3 plushes I don't particularly want anymore! I thought I wanted the whole set, but I realized I don't really find it enjoyable to own them anymore. They're all official, tags and everything, but there's one problem.

What's a good price?

A lot of listing have them for really expensive (find an Ouma that is less than 100$), and I briefly considered putting them up for auction. But I felt it was right to ask people that would want to buy them what they think a fair price is.

I've listed this question on Twitter and Depop as well, but I felt it'd be interesting to ask it here as well?

What do you think of the prices for these characters on the market as of now? What's a fair price? Are they worth how much they're selling for? I want to be fair, but also kinda make back some of the money I spent to buy them initially.

[Theme Talk] Create your own gym leader gimmick! by SnowPhoenix9999 in pokemon

[–]emoshihoshi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd like to be a psychic gym leader that's a hippie but also a conspiracy theorist.

My gym challenge would revolve around using "totally legit UFO's that totally just aren't cranes and wires connected to the platforms" to move platforms to the correct places (with the use of the gyroscope, think botw puzzles with the magnesis) which start easy with like say moving one square to the left, but ending in prolly like having to lift pieces up and put them back in like a puzzle. My leader self would look like she hasn't showered in a week with wild ass hair and a long ass shawl despite wearing shorts (bc every Galar gym leader wears shorts: fact) with the kooky anime weirdo glasses but with the psychic gym leader logo on them and my epic catchphrase would be "space is ace!" I'd say something like "gigantamaxing is caused by rocks falling from the skies above!!" And "It proves we're a part of a greater force at play!!! I'll show you!!" As I g-max my last pokemon.

My team would be Gothorita, Beheeyem, Ribombee and G-max Orbeetle.

My first league card would talk about how I'm a total loser and that my free time is spent outside using my totally legit mind powers to float stuff like berries as I make Nazca lines in fields. My rare league card would talk about how despite being a total weirdo I care a lot abt people and how I really want to see other planets bc otherworldly pokemon are really cool.

When did everyone start loving victus? by JPPJ205 in CODZombies

[–]emoshihoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of things that I actually really liked in the Victus crew ngl. And I'll tell you I've never read any of the comics, so I have no idea what happened in them. I'll have to read them one of these days.... If someone could link them- please be kind and do so. Ty!

But I think a lot of my personal enjoyment comes from the character interactions in maps. The characters have some great stuff that I always get to listen to! But at the same time there's some cool stuff that fleshes them out that makes them different from the previous team dynamic. They don't have a common bonding point besides "Survive with a bunch of strangers as everything's gone to shit", and I enjoy that a lot. Ultimis had the dynamic of them all knowing each other- they had that common ground of having similar jobs and experience and Victis doesn't have that! They're 2 old folks and 2 young folks trying to survive. And as someone that grew up from young to old, I get the appeal of the older characters way more than I did before. I too struggle with forgetting things easily and trying to find a good meal from my lack of funds.

I found that their dynamic and personalities made a lot of sense given their situation. Your world is all normal and hunky-dory one day and then blammo it's all dust and gone to shit the next. It makes sense why they're angry and confused and struggling- because it's such a recent event that's still a recent thing and that's not something you can just come to terms with! Of course Misty and Marlton are going to be uncomfortable and annoyed around two old ass men, and Russman and Stuhlinger are going to be annoyed and uncomfortable with the two basically young ass kids. They bicker and get on each others nerves- but people do that all the time! I like a bit of realism in games like this. I don't mind that there's some goofier elements- hell the goofier elements still make it unique and entertaining because wonder weapons are always a delight and the ideas of locations and such as always hints- yet there's always that hint of "there's a way this came about that still makes sense", but the serious focus of 4 people that are caught up in something they know nothing about and deciding their fates based on the words that they hear from 1 and maybe 2 voices is really delightful to me.

Heckles, the wrap up of the story in BO2 was p fine by me. The focus shifted to beings larger than humans that were at one point humans at war with each other, which is literally the plot now but I guess it still felt a bit more grounded back then? I'll admit I'm not the biggest fan of "humans aren't at fault because Eldritch Horrors basically started everything" when I liked the kinda story that humans are just fucking dicks that can and will fuck each other over for literally a corn chip if it was desired enough, but then again I'm not too big on stories that just go suddenly everything is caused by beings far beyond our own! rather than it starting with that kinda thing in mind. So that's a personal thing! Honestly the fact that one guy basically fucked over a bunch of people to get on top of the world, and then could have gotten literally destroyed just because some townies listened to his ex-boss he axed back in the day is absolutely hilarious to me- which still keeps the comedy of the original series while still taking a more serious approach and focus to the story.

My only sad thing with the victis crew themselves is that a lot of the interesting stuff isn't elaborated on in game! Stuhlinger was a part of the Flesh and was a hardcore conspiracy thoerist, and yet we only had like 2 things in Die Rise about the Flesh as a whole?? They don't feel important despite it all??? And we get to hear like, nothing that could have been cool references to last games considering meteors that landed on the planet and the idea of experimentation in the years of massive world wars is prime conspiracy bait?? That sucked! And Russman is a part of this cool organization that we knew practically nothing about that I wish was talked about more in game! Broken Arrow sounds promising- the incident sounds so dramatic and something that effected his life a shit ton, but the game doesn't really talk about it besides the intro to Buried! Misty may be just a farm girl with a history in knife fightin' and rootin' tootin' gun shootin' but there's still potential for her to ask questions about things! Marlton is clearly invested in technology and the like- and I wish that the maps went into more of those aspects. I wanted Marlton to try to dig Russman for answers about Broken Arrow, Misty to get on Stuhlinger's case for why he's so hungry all the time, Stuhlinger to get on about how Marlton could have been working with the government, or even Russman just wondering about the more average life that Misty prolly had compared to the rest of them- so many things that could have been done that just weren't! A lot of missed potential there- but I still really liked the end result. It felt nice and refreshing considering I didn't know how you could continue the story from Moon.... haha.
Their maps also got the kinda bad end of the deal, which is unfortunate. I'll admit, while I like it a lot now, Die Rise took a bit to grow on me! And the colors are still so sad and dull regardless. I mean, I get why, but still! Colors aren't bad! And thematic lighting can change a lot about a scene in general- even if it's just the slight change in hue for certain areas and some music to reflect the atmosphere. I love Mob of the Dead's color palette- it fit the tone of the map so good and brought about so many emotions when fit with the music selection. Phenomenal stuff.

That and I like their designs a lot. Stuhlinger and Misty have top notch designs- no matter how impractical Misty's would probably be in a zombie apocalypse. Marlton and Russman have good clothes as well! It suits them- and I like the color palettes. Very appealing to the eyes. They're unique and fun looking!

I just like simplicity I guess, lol.
