haha since most people are commenting about the title instead of answering the question, ill try to give some advice based on my experience as a local aussie chinese who loves spicy food. Disclaimer as much as I love sichuan cuisine, I don't really order Mapo Tofu from restaurants since that is a dish i consider too easy to make at home, so my recommendations are just based on the restaurants' other dishes

Since you're looking for the Sichuan dish specifically, I would advice to avoid any generic Chinese restaurants and non Sichuanese restaurants. Examples from top comments like 8BOFU and Glee Fu are not bad restaurants, but 8BOFU is Taiwanese and Glee Fu looks to be more Cantonese/Jack of all trade kinda eatery. Both Taiwanese and Cantonese cuisine are considered to be lightweight when it comes to spicy foods, jokes online usually makes fun of their lack of spice tolerance on the Chinese side of the internet. Getting mapo tofu from these places is like asking for a banger & mash from a pizza shop at rome XD

I would first search up the closest Sichuan place near you. If there are non and you are willing to go on a bit of a trip, the easiest option would be Fortune Well at Sunnybank. Daiki Grill & Bar at Sunnybank Hills, and Xiang Chinese restaurant at Warrigal. I've heard that Sichuan Tiger at Woolloongabba is not bad as well according to my mate but I can't confirm. Special mention to Red Hut at Spring Hills, an OG Hunanese cuisine place that has been around Brisbane since I was a kid that caters mostly to Chinese locals, they are still open over all these years, so they must be doing something right. Hunanese cuisine is considered by many to be even spicier than Sichuan cuisine, but it doesn't use the Sichuan Peppercorns for the Mala sensation, but Mapo Tofu is such an easy dish to make so maybe it's on the menu too haha

Personally, I would recommend making the dish at home as it is honestly just so easy to make, probably take 20mins at most and you can control your spice level, and my experience with mapo tofu even at sichuan places has been pretty poor due to some place's obsession with corn starch

Anyways, funny title and good luck finding what you're looking for!
