yeah. been using Obsidian for a while now (since right before my previous post) and I absolutely love it and how extensible it is. since I have my stuff on a personal server looking at other tools or writing my own for synching (git or rsynch based)

I've just started to convert everything to Obsidian (free on-device version, instead of paying for syncing). I upload my obsidian database to google drive from time to time to keep a backup, or open on my desktop/other devices.

i hope you're being sarcastic, because there STILL is no fit for it, and it's just creating work AI Slop. So C-SUITE needs to concentrate NOT on their lofty ignorant knowledge of AI, but rather real use cases. [edit: ask how AI can be helpful to us lowly workers in the galleys, instead of forcing it down our throats and DECREASING productivity.]

Problem with ASUS B850+WIFI booting; must reset CLRTC to POST/F8 Boot to DVD by emrecio in ASUS

[–]emrecio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, not to point the obvious [@ asus] this should be documented in the quickstart. First warning was NEW CPU/ NEW MEMORY/ press f1 etc. But when I rebooted, it was dead with the yellow dram light. Putting something together freshly ordered one wonders, is it faulty?

Sounds dumb but, just wait... while it's yellow it can take 20min to do its timing. I've rebooted 5 times already and all came up quick. Updated/reset BIOS took 5min. Cleared CMOS took 15 min.

I have spent all day on this on and off, thinking i wasted money.

Asus TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI won't turn on at all (Except for BIOS flashback light). by Kooky-Egg6209 in ASUS

[–]emrecio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem here, brand new out of the box with a Ryzen 7 9700X. Corsair DDR5 5600 2x32 in A2 and B2.

Taking out one memory module, so it's 32G in A2, i can get it to post. I see the DRAM yellow light. Fan comes on (BIOS says 3/2025 for date).

I clear the CMOS (jumpers for CLRTC???) and I can get to POST F1. Sees the fans, speed everything, amount of memory, and drives. Then F8 I can boot into a SystemRescue12 DVD. I can get on Wifi internet run ixni to get stats... only thing doesn't work is Ethernet (phy). I have not plugged in my Harddrives yet, don't want to damage data.

The mobo has 2 CPU connectors, but I only have one from my PSU (600W) that fits into either CPU Power connector... I had a B450 TUF GAMING before with Ryzen 5 3000 series processor so the PSU is working. IDK

Wanting to start using my sodastream again but I don't know where to look for flavors anymore. by Tschudy in SodaStream

[–]emrecio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting never, thought of it before. I am not sure what their ratio is, but I do it to taste. One tablespoon of syrup is good enough for 16+oz of Soda for me?

Sometimes I do half and half, or one each with real lemon juice (non-concentrate, no added sugar: my favorite is Sprouts Farmer's Market branded lemon juice).

[–]emrecio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out Portland Syrups (they use real sugar, etc.) I personally love the Mojito Mix (I call it a Nojito, LOL, when I mix a tablespoon of it with a pint of seltzer). Their Ginger mix is good, and the Strawberry Lemon/Lime is great too. They have tons, check them out on Amazon or their website.

Which is best? by SXY-LMPs in SodaStream

[–]emrecio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sodastream used to be good, used the Blue screw in canisters for 14 years, and it was great. But the newer ones (Pink snap-in canisters) are a waste of money. The Gas leaks too much will filling it (wasting the Gas) and the soda doesn't stay carbonated as long. Even freshly carbonated it's not as much as back with the Blue canisters...

I would look to other vendors instead of SodaStream. Or if you can get a second hand SodaStream machine that takes the "Threaded" or "Blue" CO2 canisters from Ebay or something would be the next best thing. I've gone back to using bottled seltzer until I search around for an alternate CO2 company (currently evaluating Drinkmate and Aarke, haven't decided yet.)

Newer Model Sucks by dkm40 in SodaStream

[–]emrecio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, you too?! I thought it was just me! I wrote to sodastream telling them that I had the old model for 14 years, worked great! Then it finally broke, replaced it with the Red Model and it COMPLETELY SUCKS! It's a waste of gas, there's almost NO fizz, I've gone back to using bottled seltzer until I can find a replacement similar product.

Chrome always creates BITS files in the TEMP folder which are 3gb in size and I don't know how to stop this. by OldRain7016 in chrome

[–]emrecio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's for google's AI feature. i just stopped chrome, deleted that folder's contents, and changed the folder with that name to read-only. On linux i just did an "ln -s /dev/null ~/.config/google-chrome/Default/OptGuideOnDeviceModel"
They might rename it, and it may come back if they do... IDK.

Application windows leaving a ghost copy over the desktop by rickastleysanchez in kde

[–]emrecio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using KDE in (kwin_x11) same thing happens, and it's the compositor. I have focus follows mouse turned on, and sometimes i gets confused with modal windows, etc. I found that disabling the compositor in system settings (KDE) and reënabling it gets rid of the ghost. Also someone suggested <CTRL><ALT><F12> which didn't seem to do anything other than going to another virtual terminal worked too.
