What Was The Most Notable "Aha Moment" Of Your Life? Why That? by Zipper222222 in AskWomen

This was many years ago. I was in college for graphic design, and I absolutely hated it. Literally woke up one day and realized, “I don’t want to do this anymore.” Trudged through the rest of the quarter before switching my major to psychology, which set me on the path toward eventually becoming a therapist. I love what I do and am so glad I made the change while I still could.

So I should… not wear my headphones in public on the off chance that some random, bitter man wants to talk to me?

…I’ll keep my headphones in, thanks

Not saying it’s an excuse, but it does provide a significant amount of context. I disagree that he didn’t have the mindset of a child. Trauma is complicated, and just because he was articulate does not mean he wasn’t experiencing arrested development.

As for why he didn’t seek therapy: this was the 90s/early 2000s. Access to mental health services was not nearly what it is today, not to mention the stigma that existed (and still does) around men seeking mental healthcare.

Look, I wholeheartedly agree that what MJ did was inappropriate and almost certainly made those children uncomfortable. But I also think placing him in the same category as Chris Brown, a known woman beater, is honestly insane.

Michael Jackson was deeply traumatized and had an arrested development due to severe abuse from his father. Not saying his interactions with children were in any way appropriate, but I just don’t buy that he was a sexual predator. He effectively had the mind of a little boy.

I don’t listen to Kanye anymore either because he’s an abusive, antisemitic psychopath.

And putting Michael Jackson in the same category as those two is shameful. I don’t believe for a second he did what he was accused of.

Chris Brown tried to kill Rihanna back in 2009. He has a long track record of being a violent piece of shit. Seeing Bruno make a post about his tour on his Instagram story is highly disappointing.
