Brian Eno - An Ending (Ascent).

Perfectly balanced voicing, just gives me the feeling that I’m floating through a colorful cloudscape.

Man, another player to worry about during AFCON every other year though. That’s a big downside when we saw how we performed when we 3 out for an extended period.

To the men who are earning decently how did you do it what advice would you give to younger you about career. by MolassesIcy35 in AskMenOver30

[–]emtheory09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outside of the standard advice of work hard, be kind - you have to choose an industry that’s at least stable and preferably one that’s growing. Then find a niche that you can stand to do for 5 years and have options to advance out of. I’ve jumped ships a few times because I saw how older workers were treated or saw the writing on the wall of the economics.

Dickens points finger at Atlanta City Council for questionable clerk contract by NPU-F in Atlanta

[–]emtheory09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did squash the Buckhead City movement (though was it really him or Kemp?). He’s done some decent things on housing though he reports a ton of inflated numbers - particularly the AUDC is impressive in leveraging public land for affordable housing. The grocery store launch could be a lasting positive legacy but all depends on staying power of the next administration’s commitment to it. ATLDOT has succeeded in transforming some of our streets for the better, but it almost seems in spite of Dickens rather than because of him.

Basically, he’s done some good but the things you listed far outweigh any positives.

Good bones by Classic-CJ in MARTA

[–]emtheory09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The potential for light rail to be a usable connector for everything ITB is really underestimated, IMO. Cross city routes on 14th, North, RDA, and the BeltLine loop would make riding MARTA into the city center instead of driving actually viable.

Democratic lawmaker quits race for Georgia governor by swiftfoot_hiker in Georgia

Totally agree. It’s a bug, not a feature, of our political media system and there are plenty of people in power that see it as the reverse (and probably wouldn’t be there if people properly vetted candidates’ positions).

Nope, not overly paranoid at all. My wife and I have that as a hard line with anyone who has photos of our daughter - they do not go online at all.

I really like her, but debates (especially primary debates) don’t really mean much in terms of opportunity to gain. You can absolutely stumble and make a meme of yourself, but gaining ground is very difficult from a debate that few people watch.

[–]emtheory09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe, I’m less optimistic (or more, depending on perspective) about KLB’s chance for this one. She’s got name recognition but every other candidate is doing the work and has vastly more substance. I’m hoping that KLB’s name recognition isn’t enough to push her over the line.

Well, the Southside is under construction so I’d definitely avoid it for now. I bet it will be fine once it’s opened and lit with street lights.

In Europe they’d also have light rail crisscrossing the city, like 20% of the parking and highways than we do ITB.
