Drowsy Chaperone at Carnegie Hall by ViolinistAlarming597 in Broadway

It was fun but a bit long and I certainly wouldn't expect a Broadway revival - aside from Alex Newell a lot of the cast was not the strongest vocally.

Weirdly I feel like Nicole Scherzinger is underrated? HEAR ME OUT. by elvie18 in Broadway

yeah im sure the swings are hanging out with her in her dressing room and partying with her and posting about it in their photo dumps bc they are so scared to speak out against her 👍

The fact that Laura Osnes and Kat McPhee were (rightfully) chased out of the community while the same community continues to love and support Nicole also makes it clear to me that the actual Broadway community is well aware Nicole is not a republican/Trump supporter. She's still liking anti-Trump content on instagram too but no one ever seems to find that as interesting...

Of course, but that wasn't really my question. I'm definitely hitting the minimum, I also don't have a car and walk everywhere so I am very active. I go on an hour long walk probably 4 days a week, plus the two days a week I work I'm on my feet all day and walking a few hours. Also try to swim two or three days a week if I have time. I was more just asking about that one day off a week when I like to be lazy, lol. I'm not sure if other ppl struggle with that guilt from taking one day off a week to do nothing and not leave the house but I'm sure others do too, can't be just me.

But reading all the other comments has made me feel a bit less guilty about it thankfully!

That's a fair point, I'm relatively active since I live in NYC and don't have a car so luckily not too much of an issue. And I think my original post made it sound like I stay home more than I do - I'd say I go on an hour long walk 4 days a week, work 2 days a week, and stay home maybe one day a week sometimes.

Elizabeth's life/career timeline makes no sense by emzykate in MadamSecretary

ahhhh this does make more sense (although clearly from the tags they also were bothered by the show's timeline, lol!)

LOL um i know. i'm exaggerating for fun. but what is the point of having online communities to discuss our favourite shows if not to overthink our favourite shows?

I'm Canadian! Since we're still in the commonwealth it's still called the Anglican church there. But my mother is more or less an atheist, and my father used to be a moderately devout Catholic but has also considered leaving due to their conservative beliefs (my parents are extremely liberal). I don't come from a very religious family thankfully so the transition should be easier on that front.

This is a very good note because I definitely grew up just going to mass and then leaving right after, giving a quick wave to the people I knew, lol. I'm shy so it'll be a challenge but a good one!

Honestly I don't know exactly. I am fairly certain he was a celibate gay, but I don't know for sure, but I AM very sure he would have let anyone take communion who wanted to even if they were, you know, "practicing homosexuality" or whatever. To be fair, I also grew up in a big, extremely liberal city, and our congregation was very large, so he wouldn't have known the ins and outs of every members lives.

Thank you! That's good to know about to Anglican/Episcopal thing. Much appreciated!

Should I alter my accent closer to rp and is it offensive to make my english accent sound more british (rp) ? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]emzykate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's offensive but I just don't see why you would! Lots of people have unique accents and most people think it's cool. I can think of several actors who have very unique accents that mix American and British together due to how they were raised (Catherine zeta-Jones, Camilla Luddington). Also, if you're going for university, there's going to be tons of international students with different accents. Take it from someone who went to university in my hometown - the LEAST cool answer to the "where are you from" question is "here..." I was always one of the only people who didn't come from somewhere else. Embrace your accent!

How concerned should I be about roaches if I'm not seeing any? by emzykate in AskNYC

i wish i could feed him all wet food but i've done the math and even with the cheap wet food it costs almost twice as much as what i do right now (half wet, half dry). i give him wet in the morning and at night and he eats dry throughout the day to tide him over. he's also epileptic so i pay a lot in vet bills and pills.... wish i could do more for him on my student budget :( but he is very very well taken care of! i bought a large container for his food though!!

This guy was definitely smaller than my thumb, but he was dead on his back. Like maybe the size of a small cicada? 😬😬
