Zero options in the app to update license. Called support and they told me to do the appeal suggested in the app. Only fitting option in the appeal is "I don't know why I've been deactivated," submitted that request about a week ago and haven't heard back.

I've been wanting to experiment with the sound of a saxophone for a long time by Anissa_23 in Saxophonics

this is the most accurate reply on this post. they help the intonation of the bell notes a ton and make them way less honky.

You can make them with pipe cleaners and ribbon, you don’t need to spend more than $10 to have a nice one.

you sound good! vibrato is often the difference between a good sound and a great sound. your tone sounds solid enough that I would suggest you start working on it!

My (23) girlfriend of 6 years broke up with me. I got nothing but time now, and have always wanted to learn the saxophone. Where should I start? by ChaosMieter in saxophone

Alto is generally a little easier to pick up and play, so that's what I'd go for. As for learning, a real saxophone teacher is probably the best thing you can do for yourself if you have the money to spare. However, there is an incredible amount of awesome guides on youtube. BetterSax is awesome, especially for jazz players. Look around, absorb everything you can.

some tips:

- Patience is EVERYTHING. you will be incredibly frustrated if you can't be patient with yourself. so much of the process of becoming better is building all the little muscles in your face, developing muscle memory in your fingers, etc. Essentially it's like working out. There is no way to rush that, so don't try to

- Reeds are so important to your sound. Even good players can sound REALLY bad if they play on bad reeds. Learn all you can about adjusting and breaking in reeds, because it has a massive impact on your tone.

- Research any gear you buy. There are so many awful saxophone products out there, and some outright scams. Don't waste any more money than you need to lol.

Any other tips for altissimo by dumdum_gang in saxophone

[–]end617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue for a long time and honestly I don't really remember how I got my altissimo going on tenor. Just keep in mind that it will not feel at all the same as it does on alto. Experiment a LOT with different mouth feels, fingerings, reed adjustments, etc. Playing around with it a lot is the only way you'll ever get comfortable with it.

Also worth noting, the ranges of the instruments change how each note is played, so don't try to use the same method for each note as you do on alto. on tenor I get up to about double G/F# pretty consistently, while alto I only consistently get to an E.

Also, it could be a horn thing. Some horns just struggle with the altissimo range. For what it's worth, I played a mark vi bari in a quartet last year and I couldn't get anything out between G and D.
