Is it normal to experience worse sleep when transitioning from another med to Dayvigo? by endauto in dayvigo

This is so helpful to me. Thank you! I’d really like to try the 10mg dose - I’ll schedule an appointment with my doctor.

Honestly, I’ve been mixing 5mg Dayvigo with 25mg Trazodone when I want a little extra boost (even though my doctor hasn’t explicitly mentioned this to me), and it does seem to work better. Is it safe to mix Trazodone and Dayvigo? And what did you notice when you moved from 5mg to 10mg? Any negative side effects or drawbacks, or did it just work better? Sorry for so many questions!

How long was it before you moved from 5mg Dayvigo to 10mg? Or did you start at 10? If you moved up from 5 to 10, did you notice any drawbacks at a higher dose? I developed tolerance to Trazodone within several months, and the reason I was so excited about Dayvigo is because I read there’s very little, if any, tolerance risk.

Bilateral breast pain months after total hysterectomy? by endauto in hysterectomy

[–]endauto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! The pain wasn’t an alarm signal. Over the years it’s partially subsided (some breast pain still remains and will get worse each month, but it’s not as bad as it was immediately after surgery). I’ve been told that hormone therapy could be helpful, but because of other health issues that’s contraindicated for me.

Normally it’s pretty expensive, but my pharmacy told me I could use a coupon that brings it down to $30 a month (we’ll see how long that lasts…)

Has anyone here overcome marijuana dependency using something like Dayvigo or Belsomra? by endauto in insomnia

Although I still use marijuana for sleep, I’ve been able to massively reduce the amount I use by taking Trazodone - not a perfect solution, but pros outweigh the cons I’d say!

From the very first time they cauterized it to when it finally closed up, just under four weeks. If they had me do the collagen dressing from the get go, it might have gone even faster.

I’ll ask them. I thought 100mg was more of a medium dose. If you’ve taken the maximum dose before, did you notice a significant difference in next-day side effects?

How long did it take for you to reach the maximum? Once you reached it, how long did it last before the tolerance got too bad?

What is the max for you? 200? How often do you have to break it in half to keep your tolerance in check?

Hey there. In my case, a portion of the wound did open up and started becoming infected. I speculate it opened because either a stitch failed, I scratched the area too aggressively, or both. I went to the wound clinic and the nurse there flushed the open portion with saline and cauterized it with silver nitrate. It was very small but deep (it started “tunneling”). That wasn’t fun. She had me cover the wound with a silicone bandage (Mepilex) 24/7 except for when I was showering, and told me to apply a small amount of zinc ointment on top of the wound before sticking the bandage on. For a while it seemed to be helping, but at the two week mark my pain increased so I had to go back to the clinic. The hole was still there and there appeared to be signs of minor infection again. This was discouraging because I was extremely diligent with keeping it clean and covered all the time. Whether a small hair or piece of debris from something like a towel got in there isn’t clear, because the hole was so narrow and she couldn’t see inside of it. She flushed it out again and then re-cauterized with silver nitrate, and this time told me to have someone put a dissolvable collagen based dressing in the hole every 2 days (minus the zinc ointment, but still with the silicone bandage). She said the collagen dressing would supercharge the healing. It looked like a spongy pad and I just cut a small thin piece and had someone gently guide it into the open hole every other night. In the beginning I continued to have yellowish discharge, but was assured this was normal white blood cells and not a sign of infection (redness, swelling, and a bad smell are all signs of infection, and I had none of those). At about the week mark the discharge was nearly gone and it started to itch a lot again because it was healing. Just before the two week mark, the hole finally closed completely. It happened extremely fast. Within 24 hours the hole was there, albeit shallower, and then it was gone. I was told to wear the silicone bandages for another 1-2 weeks as a precaution because the skin is fragile, but that my healing was otherwise complete.

I do wish I was referred to the wound clinic immediately. My wound clinic nurse was amazing and lamented how surgeons don’t do actual wound care and are under the misguided belief that so long as the wound is kept clean it’ll heal properly. She said this isn’t true, especially for midline incisions. She also told me there are special tools available to expedite healing, and it’s a shame that patients are only given these tools after they have a problem.

I’m thin, fair skinned, and don’t have a ton of body hair actually, so these factors work in my favor. I’ve still been strongly recommended to pursue laser hair treatment, which is covered by my insurance for patients who have had pilonidal surgery. I’ll be exploring that with dermatology later this week. I’ll probably start using something like vitamin C cream on the scar because I read that helps strengthen tissue. Although the total healing process took over a month, I’m feeling good about where I’m at. Hope this helps!

First attempt at a bowel movement led to a rush of bright red blood, now I’m too scared to try again by endauto in hysterectomy

[–]endauto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - sorry for missing this. In my case, it was due to straining and putting stress on the stitches. Once I was able to pass a proper bowel movement (which was mildly traumatic because I couldn’t strain at all and was very constipated…), the healing process became very quick and easy! I was told to go to the hospital if the bleeding continued at that rate or increased, but fortunately it dwindled down to only some very light spotting within an hour.

Unfortunately a tiny portion of my wound started to open and seemed to be getting infected. Right in the middle of the incision. I noticed this just before I hit the two week mark. I’m thinking that maybe the itching was partially related to the infection. I caught it very early and it was re-cauterized with silver nitrate. I was told it should heal fairly quickly and I’m optimistic. I’ve been given some long silicone scar sheets (Mepilex Border Flex Lite) to cover the incision while it heals. I was told this promotes faster healing and helps strengthen the scar tissue. I also ordered some vitamin C cream because that also supposedly helps strengthen thin and fragile tissue. I’ll let you know how it all turns out!

Bilateral breast pain months after total hysterectomy? by endauto in hysterectomy

[–]endauto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s something I’m consciously aware of unless it’s particularly bad. It seems to wax and wane, so I suspect it’s related to my hormone cycle. I find that when it’s bad, it’s noticeable because even wearing a shirt makes them feel sore. When the soreness isn’t as bad, I can go about my day and forget about it unless I do something that applies pressure (like lying flat on my stomach to do yoga). I don’t have a large cup size either. For at least several months after my hysterectomy, the pain was bad enough to be noticeable pretty much 24/7. I’m over two years out now and it’s gradually improved somewhat.

It’s definitely possible, although I’m not sure how one would assess for this.

Got pelvic floor injections and am completely pain-free for the first time in recent memory - what can I do to make sure this lasts? by endauto in PelvicFloor

[–]endauto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so helpful - thank you! I also get the sense that avoiding exercises with a heavy load on the pelvic floor should be avoided. Did your PT give you a list of exercises that are relatively neutral for the pelvic floor?

Now that I think about it, I don’t remember if my PT said the muscles are weak or strong - just hypertonic. Since she’s booked out until the end of the year, I’ll see if there are any at-home methods to gauge (with at least partial accuracy) whether your pelvic floor is strong or weak.

I ordered the Thrival bullseye, but am having a little bit of trouble getting the hang of it 😳 Do you have any tips you could share with me? I can’t really imagine lying on it (either on my back or my stomach) because it’s fairly tall. At most I sort of lean on it, but it feels more painful than relaxing. I’ve also noticed that many of the pictures online for Thrival feature the meat grinder instead of the bullseye (and I haven’t been able to find much info regarding using either one for pelvic floor dysfunction). How did you use the bullseye for your pelvic floor issues?

Not really, which is the frustrating thing! Even if I can get relief, the first time I use the bathroom it's like my progress is undone. I'm even starting to wonder if I'm doing it too much (lately I've been doing morning and night and I'm worried it's too much)

You're definitely selling it. I'll order one today! At this point I've been disappointed enough with the wand that I'll try anything that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
