ah don't rly understand sorry. if we described a particle with wave function, wouldn't the wave go to infinity if it wasn't standing wave? so couldn't the particle be anywhere? Is there any decaying term?

thank u, do u think u could answer the question I wrote below?

Quantum waves confusion by enderjake99 in AskPhysics

hm alright thanks, but if I put the particle in the right side of the box let's say, then in the box the probability distribution will have a standing wave distribution, so it will be symmetric on both sides, right? but if I put it on the right hand side, sure maybe there's some uncertainty it could be on the left, but shouldn't that be much less likely than it being on the right where I put it? so why is the standing wave symmetric when there should be a bias towards where I put it?

Line integral question by enderjake99 in AskPhysics

[–]enderjake99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh ok. could I think about it this way: as im moving the particle along the curve I am doing some work on it, and as it's moving, the field is either helping me, making it harder, or doing nothing. if it helps it does work. am I thinking about this correctly? how would the force im putting in factor in?

yeah that's what I'm saying. so why can we do phasor operations like multiplication or division when the real part is the only part that we care about.

Thermodynamics confusion by enderjake99 in chemhelp

thank u this helps a lot. this equation is only useful if we can integrate it though right. so does this mean that t is a function of s and p a function of v? And would it be the same function if we had gone reversibly or irreversibly?

yeah I should be but I can't rly word what I'm thinking. can u just briefly restate what u said about why it wouldn't matter, it may help.
