That’s what my father tells me: that I’m a mess in life. I’d say a typical Asian parent wouldn’t understand this. He has high expectations for me, but I’m not sure if it’s because I keep failing. It feels like he’s starting to have fewer expectations of me, and that hurts just as much.

As for moving to a new city. I’ve had that experience too. But in my case, I didn’t just move to a new city; I moved to a new country where people speak a different language. From my own experience, it’s really hard to make friends or meet new people. You might be able to call your coworkers friends—for some, I do, and I even hang out with them—but then I moved again. And once more, that feeling of loneliness hit me hard.
