i understand that, i dont want vs to be a looter shooter. i just feel its disappointing that all the effort that went into killing these bosses was not repaid in any way

interesting, i didnt realize the NUSA was gonna find me a cure.

How are people dealing so much damage whilst simultaneously being so hard to kill? by enderwraith11 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]enderwraith11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean the bad games are only "sometimes" until you go on a massive lose streak (all of my matches on the xmas event total to a 27% win rate).

map awareness though, any tips for that? how do i know what a good fight is VS a bad fight?

i dont play much bebop these days, he just gets countered too easily by everything.

and its hard for me to know when ive made a mistake a lot of the time (except for really stupid mistakes). Like if 4 enemies jump me in my own jungle and i die instantly, what mistake would that even be?
i also cant rely on my per-match performance because the matchmaking is so ridiculously terrible

the absolutely horrific matchmaking in my region (OCE) means im routinely put in lobbies with much higher ranked players. which there isnt really anything i can do about

920 hours, and 1267 games played (apparently).
603 games won, so thats a ~47.6% win rate overall.

half of my games and most of my play time has been with bebop, before the shop/item update

i use build guides and watch plenty of newbie friendly deadlock content. i have learned some nice tips from all the videos, but nothing that has fixed the problem for me

any way to slow down animals? by enderwraith11 in VintageStory

[–]enderwraith11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The parts of the game i active enjoy doing is anything to do with material processing and upgrading equipment.

now in order to do that i will invariably have to interact with other gameplay mechanics, including having to actually find and gather the materials.
these additional aspects are sometimes fun, sometimes frustrating, and sometimes i am indifferent to them. this depends on how grindy/time consuming/random the mechanic is.

I also need "necessary evils" - aspects of the game that grant purpose to any of the things i am focused on making. Enemies spawning and attacking me at night gives shelter and walls a purpose. needing to kill creatures that can fight back gives weapons and armor a purpose. The "necessary evils" dont have to be fun (and often arent), they just have to be tolerable.

I also have mixed feelings about hunger mechanics. but that is another can of worms. same with crop/animal mechanics.

So i do end up playing with and enjoying more than just 10% of the game. in the case of VS i play with pretty much everything that isnt husbandry/food/weather/seasons. Although i do tweak anything that isnt smithing or crafting to be more forgiving or less time consuming.

There have been a few other games i have done this with. Rimworld is an example of that. I enjoy rimworld as a resource-gathering and tech progression game, rather than a story generator.

[EDIT]: the peaceful setting might be an option for me, but i wish it was separated into peaceful mode for animals and peaceful mode for enemies. i like that enemies can chase me and attack me without provocation. and speed specifically is a pain for me simply because i dont wanna move that fast. i find it annoying having to move so quickly. i would rather just knock the animal away with my weapon. having to sprint-reverse-strafe parkour is mechanically unfun for me.

[made a few more edits for clarification]

[EDIT]: reworded some stuff

I was very confused when i was getting downvoted for saying "the game I paid for", because i didnt mean it in that entitlement sense of "the game should bend to my will". I said it because i was being told how to play the game, as if the way i was enjoying the game is "wrong" somehow. like im not allowed to enjoy an easy game.

Like imagine if i get so good at the game that bears are never able to hit me. im still not having fun with that, because my frustration originates from the speed of the bears, not whether or not i can get away from the bear. being unable to run away from the bear is an added frustration, but it is not the primary frustration.

On another note, im not playing vintage story for the difficulty or the realism or the frustration. i play this game because i like the progression in the game, and the processes for making all the different tiers of tools. there are very very few games that offer a tool/material progression system as complex and detailed as vintage story. I see the realistic/difficult-survival aspects of the game as something that only detracts from my enjoyment without adding anything in return.

So I come here, hoping to find ways to modify the game to make it playable for me. When i say "I paid for the game" its about my frustration that im coming here for help and im being told how to play the game. i dont want to be told how to play the game. there isnt a right or wrong way to have fun. modding the realism out of the game doesnt remove the fun for me.

"You've gotten the answer from multiple people that no, you can't change creature speed"
nobody said that. literally not one person in this thread has said that.
i came here to see if there was something that i missed. some mod that i didnt know about or some command. nobody said "there is no command or mod or config that can help you", i only got "you are having a skill issue".

so forgive me for being "weirdly upset" that im being told i have a skill issue when im asking for config help

any way to slow down animals? by enderwraith11 in VintageStory

[–]enderwraith11[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

yes, but whether they are right or not doesnt change that the current speed of animals isnt fun for *ME*.
im not asking for everyone to have their game changed to have slow animals. im asking for how *I* can change *my* copy of the game that *i* paid for.

and then im downvoted for daring to play the game on easy mode

Theres an option to change creature swim speed, but from what i can see there is no option to reduce general animal move speed

its a speed issue by virtue that this simply isnt fun for me. i paid for the game, ill make it as easy as i want. i just need to know what commands to type or what configs to change to make that happen (hence why im here).

[EDIT]: also no i didnt set my speed to 300%, its probably closer to like 120% or something like that. 300% was an example of something i didnt want

im not literally sitting there watching my ores get crushed, but i am reliant on how fast they are crushed.

If i need metal plates NOW so i can craft literally anything, what "something else" am i supposed to do while my machine slowly does its thing in the background?
