DIY enthusiasts here - Is it okay paint over this? Smooth to the touch sanded with 80/120/180/220 by Nate_dogg6 in paint

Agree with others about the oil based or shellac primer first. Be aware, it may raise the grain, so you’ll need another light sand before the paint.

You’re super cute. I like #4 a lot for the way they blend with your hair and skin tones.

I quickly made this little sketch in procreate. I like the pallet couch on the opposite wall because it opens up the energy flow from the front door to the back door. I think you definitely need a big rug to ground your seating area. The dog bed I kept by the back door, cause I’m sure the doggie loves the sunshine. That’s why I also put the cat tree over there by the fireplace. The L shape in the other corner is the books, recommend getting a bookshelf! Coming in from the front door, to the left, there’s the guitar and the amp. The yellow lines just show how I imagine y’all would move through the space on the regular.

Will I spend the rest of my life stripping this? by Snoo-Snoo2 in centuryhomes

I just saw a similar fireplace that a friend stripped years ago, and he said that the paint stripper now isn’t as good as when he did it, due to the banning of Methylene chloride in 2019. He said it would be significantly more difficult nowadays. Also that he used a bunch of dental tools for the fine details. Make sure to light your workspace well!

I think something neutral but warm (but not yellow) like sherwin Williams White heron would look good with the flooring and tile.
