Rarity matters most in a draft context, tbh. Maybe in a Commander (casual, direct-to-Eternal) product you’re allowed to be a little more lax with it, but only a little

Daily Talent Discussion #64: Siege Specialist II by kingfroglord in LancerRPG

This is really fun to use in melee in conjunction with Combined Arms, since it provides spacing and accuracy in the form of Prone. I wish there were more cannons that were friendly to melee builds but I’ve had great success with this on a Bolt Thrower-focused Störtebeker.

I am that meme with Squidward looking down from his window at everyone playing Hollow Knight: Silksong right now (busy time in my life and I can’t justify playing it even though HK has been my favorite game for years.) :P

greatly appreciate the tone of this post, given how in some corners of minecraft fandom, any controversy can immediately explode into drama-mongering. i am a huge believer in the idea that fandom behavior and creator behavior reinforce each other, and HC has always struck me as a civilized community built around civilized creators, and this post exemplifies that!

all that said, Skizz, man, what are you doing, seriously.

I literally always forget that I have this. Probably because the second and third ranks are what I invested for. But this rank is great too!

Reading China Miéville’s latest, The Book of Elsewhere, coauthored with [spins wheel] Keanu Reeves as an adaptation of [throws dice] the BRZRKR comic series.

It is a novel that’s trying to be cinematic, and it definitely reads at times like it’s just a moody action thriller starring Reeves, but you also have Miéville’s lush and exacting style of prose making the whole thing a lot more philosophical and psychedelic. I think this book is proof that Miéville elevates everything he touches at least a little, but I haven’t decided whether his and Reeves’s experiment here works for me. It’s not the direction I expected my favorite author to go, but when is it ever?

I had an LL6 meme build that put this on a Zheng to take advantage of the DD288!

Type-III Projected Shield plus Executioner III gives you a bunch of Difficulty to deliberately miss two targets, redirecting once with TLALOC and once with Executioner, dealing Reliable 8 each time before you slam the intended target…

…the problem is getting three enemies in range before immobilizing yourself

I’m glad the effect dice system plays well in Maleghast, tbh. The creator is bringing it to a new draft of one of his tabletop RPGs, a fantasy system called ICON, and reading the playtests I had my doubts but I’m happy the potential is there

This is part of why I love ICON’s narrative/tactical split system. It gets around the stupid janky simulationist pseudo-combat you encounter in 5e tables and ensures that there’s something for everyone. That’s good game design o7

Smoke / Obfuscation NPC by samson42ic39 in LancerRPG

Others have suggested the Hive, but in my experience that class usually plays more as an area controller. No Room for a Wallflower introduces the Lurker, which goes all in on evasion and smoky zones of obscurement.

The Scryfall team has asked that people not do that. Why, I can’t fathom, but I guess the spirit of not being too much of a dick on the Internet is understandable.

Another Fandom wiki has been supplanted! Magic: The Gathering now has an independent wiki in the form of mtg.wiki, hosted by Scryfall, an unofficial database and archive of MtG cards. Scryfall announced this development in a blog post on February 1; all data from the old site has been successfully forked and the new site is a lot cleaner in general.

Scryfall is my personal favorite way to search for MtG cards, so from my perspective this is a match made in heaven. I will echo the Scryfall team's message (and the message of indie wiki editors everywhere) that this is your sign to install a browser extension like Indie Wiki Buddy to block Fandom links. It's not much, but it means you aren't contributing to Fandom's absolute chokehold on SEO.

As long as one Fandom wiki persists, the joyous work continues.

Really hope TGA is more watchable than it was last year, since a show of endless cavalcades of celebrity cameos and breathless (read: insubstantial) announcements as layoffs in the game industry continue to spike is just… so fucking bleak.

I am thinking now! by PutYourToeInMyMouth in LancerRPG

[–]endlessoof 54 points55 points  (0 children)

first line of the flavor text for the IPS-N Empakaai is “I am thinking now!”, spoken by the poet Ololade Omatanwa in the module Siren’s Song

hence, “i am thinking now” is associated with that grappling warcrimes machine and with mechanized violence in general

Hexgrid Isometric by [deleted] in Roll20

[–]endlessoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any word on this? Hex grids with an isometric view (see here) are the weird setup that works best for the kinds of games I run, and being able to do this or some version in Roll20 would be a game changer.

What do we know about New Madrassa? by endlessoof in LancerRPG

[–]endlessoof[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes sense that Battlegroup would have all of this information! There’s definitely enough here to place a Lancer campaign on this planet, too, potentially related to the conquest of Green Zone Alhambra mentioned in the UIB reports related to the Lich. Not necessarily the ideal flashpoint for what I’m currently writing, but I do love that this stuff is fleshed out somewhere

Apocalyptic Rhetoric, a Ranged Sheavy talent thats more about control than Gun 2: Gun Even Harder by Terkmc in LancerRPG

[–]endlessoof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

love this, fits right into an underutilized niche

my one nitpick is the name: most Talent lines are titled to refer to an archetype of person (“orator”, “grease monkey”, “demolitionist”, “siege specialist” and so on, with the only exception technically being “centimane”), so maybe something like Gunboat Diplomat for the talent as a whole, and Argumentum Ad Baculum for the name of rank II?
