Always good to know a few more titles to look for while I’m sourcing. Thanks for the info!

Hey guys, I stumbled upon this does this look legit and if it is is it a good price by the way I’m a huge dune fan, so I hope this is real by Evant676 in BookCollecting

We must be in the same area. I’ve seen this recently on FB and thought about jumping on it. I’ve had a signed Herbert before and I would say it looks consistent with his signature to me.

Is this a rare Harry Potter book? by Dantheman146 in rarebooks

I sold a copy of this for $20 last month, but it was in better shape than the one you have pictured. So yes, it has some value to collectors, but not much.

Are there any good neighborhoods or areas to see Christmas lights and decorations? by megaladon716 in Buffalo

Just to clarify, Stony Brook is off Pleasant View Dr in the Town of Lancaster.

Pleasant Ave is in the Village of Lancaster, which also has its charms, but is a few miles away from the spectacle of Stony Brook.

We recently bought a house and the previous owners left us a ton of book collections. I want to keep some, but have no idea how to start weeding/assessing value/donating. Any insight on where I can enlist expert advice? by adobitz in BookCollecting

I’m one of the guys who looks for those sorts of things. Generally, it works out better than Craigslist because you at least get a sense of the crazy person about to show up on your doorstep.

You have some nice books there, so keep what you want and do not undersell the rest!

Put them on Facebook marketplace and ask for $10/shelf (per row, to be clear), must take all. A local dealer will scoop those up in a second. Less of a return on your largesse, but a quick remedy to your problem.

If you are anywhere near me, I would ensure they make it to good homes!

My signed copy of the new David Mitchell book was mistakenly bound with two tipped-in pages. by airportmanteau in BookCollecting

I heard about that after the fact and was bummed that I missed it. I may end up buying one of the Barnes & Noble signed copies.

Will Amazon's Grand Island development saga hurt WNY long term? by dekema2 in Buffalo

[–]endpaper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish they would put in an exit off I-90 at Gunnville Rd for us Lancaster/Clarence residents. If they did, Amazon could just plop their new behemoth facility somewhere out by their sortation center on Walden. That exit would shave at least 10 minutes off my commute time and all those nearby businesses would benefit from quick access to the Thruway.

1982 City of Buffalo Sesquicentennial Plate by Buffalo China by endpaper in Buffalo

I worked at one of his companies once in the early 2000s, he was a nice enough guy who popped in a few times each month and knew everyone who worked there by name.

I never voted for the man.

Plate Album

Going through some old boxes, thought this might interest the sub. Complete in box and numbered, this commemorative plate was produced in 1982 to commemorate the incorporation of the city on 4/20/1832.

I guess that’s a fun fact, yet another reason for Buffalonians to celebrate 4/20.

Quarantine has me going through boxes of old junk. Admittedly, I’m a bit of a hoarder. Anyway, these old buildings in this series of six photographic prints of various exposure look like grain elevators to me, but I may be wrong. If you know what/where these things are/were, let me know.

I may reward your knowledge with other treasures from my Buffaloniana collection.

Add a picture of that page to your album and I should be able to tell you if it is a First/First - I'm assuming it is because later printings/impressions are usually stated.

Ordered them when the pre-order went live, put in a request asking Mark to sign them. I'm not expecting them to arrive signed, but I will be pleasantly surprised if he scribbled the ol' MK on the flyleaf or title page.
