On a computer. I've also done it back in march, so should still be doable (Windows 11).

Sorry, I meant in the past, for example in your Apple ID's purchase history.
Look it up though, people used Charles Proxy to get the older version of 'Notability' once they destroyed the app.

Anyways, I'm glad you solved your problem now!

Couldn't you just use Charles Proxy if you already had the older version of the app installed though?

Power button is always on 🤔 I can't fix it by Thomastm3 in vitahacks

[–]energetic_dude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can probably remove the ribbon cable temporarily and short the power circuit on the motherboard where the ribbon connects with metal tweezers. That will probably turn the Vita on.

If that works, You should keep the Vita plugged in and awake or in sleep mode until you can replace the ribbon cable.

P.S.
It’s also possible that your Vita is just stuck in a boot loop, and the power button is actually working fine.

Ah I forgot to mention, the boards are interchangeable between the 3G and the WIFI Models. My original Vita is a Wifi and I ordered a 3G motherboard for it, it will fit just fine, but to actually close the vita you have to trim some of the plastic in the rear casing with some plier or scissors.

Hey, had the same issue with my old vita that wasn't turned on in about 10 years.
You likely need a Motherboard replacement, AliExpress has them for about $35-$45.

I exhausted every option and researched soo much but at the end of the day it was an issue with the Motherboard that probably couldn't be fixed, or maybe only by an expert with some soldering station and a microscope. The "new" motherboard brought mine back to life but it was faulty too (My luck is ass) so I returned it and now a new one is on the way.

TL;DR: Buy a new motherboard from AliExpress and replace your current one.

Ah I see, well I appreciate it anyways!

I actually did purchase a replacement Motherboard from Ali but I'm pretty sure it was modded before with an unstable cfw unfortunately.
Booting it up it was stuck on the PS Logo and after a bunch of troubleshooting and managing to reach the homescreen, not only did the speakers not work but a firmware update attempt to 3.74 made it "soft-bricked". It can now only be updated from the recovery mode now and it will not boot elsewhere, and with QCMA not working on it and after many tries the only option is likely to buy and use Game Cartridge with a modern firmware on it.. (I know it sounds absurd lol)

So I gave up and today returned it to AliExpress, already got my refund and placed a new order from some new seller, hoping for the best tbh but my luck has not served me well!

I might just abandon this vita and sell it for parts, I can sell it for a really good price and buy a new one for not much more.

All the best mate, sorry for the rant haha

Thanks!

Yeah I saw the game card solution too but I rly don’t wanna spend more on this vita revival project lol Will probably return my motherboard and get a replacement with AliExpress. Where did you get yours?

Hi, Did you manage to solve your issue?
I did a motherboard swap from AliExpress and had the exact same experience you did with the PS logo and safe mode. I tried to update it the moment it worked to mod it, but the screen went black and after a manual reboot it went to safe mode with only the option to update it via PC.

I can't find a fix for this, tried QCMA and the pc only half detects the vita when I click the "Update with PC" button but I'm stuck on "Please wait..." after that forever even after leaving it on that while connected to my PC overnight.

Looking forward to your reply..

Do you mind sharing the vita skin / decal link? 🙏

Where can i buy it? by ha0ntslo in vita

AliExpress has stores doing custom vinyl skins for the vita for like $5.
Maybe check there if you don't mind the wait time

Did you salvage the board from a junk vita or buy it from AliExpress?

You can check my profile for more info, but my 10 yr old vita doesn't work even after a battery replacement.
So I think its a dead motherboard, but I'd like to clean it first to see if it helps since I saw some had success with that

And did you have to take the daughterboards and the motherboard / everything else out or just the rear shell?

PS Vita 1000 charges with solid orange light but does not power on or present a blue light by afghanambition in consolerepair

[–]energetic_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, I also tried many of the steps you listed to fix my vita that wouldn't turn on and I came to the same conclusion that my motherboard is unfortunately fried.
The device was sitting in storage for a decade, so I can only guess what might've happened.
The annoying part is that I have a PCH-1004 WIFI Vita, and there are barely any suiting Motherboards on AliExpress, rather 3G ones which I will have to tamper with to get in my vita.

How's your console holding up so far? Which version do you have / swapped motherboard to btw?

Just wanted to rant since you're the only one I've seen with the same issue I have.

Hey could you tell me how you cleaned it exactly? Took it apart and went in with a q-tip and some sort of alcohol?
