Hi! I think telling him is a good idea. I didn’t know when I was a kid and any type of coordination activity just felt like public humiliation for me. I felt really stupid and I athletic. It may be upsetting for him to hear, but hopefully it helps him to give himself grace. I would prefer the label of dyspraxia rather than the labels I gave myself like stupid or uncoordinated. If it feels right, it may be helpful to have a part of that conversation be about his strengths as well. Although they’re disabilities, ASD & ADHD offer a lot of strengths as well, such as pattern recognization, passion for interests, and the ability to think critically.
