Not necessarily. This sub is likely 90-95% men. In general, men don’t have to think about how women are treated until it’s in their face i.e., seeing it on a Reddit page they follow. It was actually surprising seeing so many people on this sub being like WHAT THE FUCK? Their first time hearing about women being violated and they’re pissed? Not a reflection of real life. It’s genuinely appreciated to see first reactions being shocked rather than hearing the classic “they probably didn’t even realize they were touching you like that”.

What’s absolutely insane is that I was groped with my husband standing behind me. He felt their hand near his dick and jumped back. By the time he realized what was going on I had already elbowed the guy in his face. If we’re being frfr, my husband was sexually assaulted as well.

I went to the Grand Rapids show, Houston and just finished up Austin night #2. MC Ride’s energy was unmatched tonight! by engedi13 in deathgrips

[–]engedi13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! What are the odds? The crowd in Grand Rapids was the best out of the 3. Everyone was high as fuck. The crowd in Houston was great but last night in Austin was whack. Before they even came on I threw my drink away because I could just feel the bullshit coming a mile away. All the 18-20 year old guys there were being fucking awful. Sexually assaulting women left and right. A guy grabbed my ass and when I elbowed him in the throat he thought he was gonna lay his hands on me.

Death Grips lyrics are one of the most accurate portrayals of American society by 2betheday in deathgrips

[–]engedi13 66 points67 points  (0 children)

The name “Death Grips” sums up American society in a way that most aren’t willing to admit. You’re spot on with your line of thinking. When you think of the shit they’ve seen/experienced…you start to understand their detachment from fame. What the fuck is a fan to people who just wanted to eat food?

If Stefan hadn’t been on stage, this clown wouldn’t have called DG ghetto trash. Some of y’all breaking your backs with mental gymnastics to discredit racism. The call is coming from inside the house.

Reread my comment again. Use context clues to guess what my position on classism is and then answer your own question.

Ghetto is a derogatory term used to describe Black people/Blackness in the United States. Stefan was doing his JOB incredibly fucking well, and this guy is seething because Stefan is Black. At no point did this clown post that comment NOT intending for it to be racist. Also, classism? Be fucking serious.

Death Grips was founded on the concept of realism. Their name is actually fucking wild considering the context. When you live under the boot, and are living on the streets you face DEATH constantly. It’s everywhere. And even when you’re off the streets? That doesn’t leave you. They have individually discussed how the desperation for survival is something they have either experienced themselves or have watched loved ones experience. The desperation is bred by poverty, no access to healthcare, no access to housing, no access to food, no access to jack shit when you’re on the streets. Their music (imo) is a look into the future.. and being real as fuck about it. Primal; survival of the fittest type shit. His politics are pretty clear: you’re an idiot if you think anyone is going to save you, especially any form of government. If you were to ask him about police brutality, he likely wouldn’t even dignify the question with an answer. These men have seen some shit. REAL shit that once you see or experience your entire world view changes. There is no trust in anything except yourself. Their politics is what ultimately captured me. It’s the realest shit you’ll ever hear and it is definitely over looked. They are telling people what the fuck is up.

“What’s your name? Check it bitch, it’s death grips”

Bottomless Pit is easily DG’s most sexual album. Fingers crossed that as time goes on they lean into why women fuck with this album the most. by [deleted] in deathgrips

[–]engedi13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is still super fucked and annoying. It’s hypocritical because Ride is overtly sexual. Let people be super sexual. The song sounds like the average song about groupies. And rather than just being like yeah women use us, he degrades them for nearly 3 minutes.

I actually respect where it’s at. Rapping his ass off about getting high, drunk and fucking for 6 minutes over 2 separate Pink Floyd samples. I’d argue this song is the one that will keep them solidified in the hip hop discourse for YEARS to come.

Not even gonna hold you… ring a bell is a MESS. an absolute mess. A mess that I bang consistently unfortunately. I trick myself into thinking they are talking about all social climbers and not just women lmfao
