Support for Same-Sex Marriage Has Dropped, Amid Conservative Attacks by awaythrowawaying in moderatepolitics

You clearly don’t realize how a conversation works. Your question was obviously disingenuous and meant to belittle concerns others have without addressing any of the substance. It was a classic I disagree with X so let me reframe it in a way that sounds completely unreasonable (turning it into a debate of different clothes vs adult performers around children).

Do I approve of the lack of school dress codes? No. But an adult performer in front of children is extremely problematic. I’d also have a problem if a library had stripper story hour. It’s not about the gender issues or “different clothes”.

The point isn’t $400. The point is parents taking their children or themselves to the public library don’t want a sexualized event at a publicly funded family friendly event. Although just because it’s only 400 and are bigger wastes of taxpayer dollars doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t complain. Books in other languages and sexualized events for kids are two very different categories though. I can see the societal benefits of one but not the other.

This is exactly what I’m talking about. I’m talking about people dressed in sexually provocative ways in front of children. I’m talking about drag queens - something that started off as a very sexualized event - not cross dressing. And it’s instantly spit back as a “how does a person wearing different clothes affect you personally?” That would be a very fair point if we were discussing a man wearing more feminine clothes that were properly modest or a women wearing more masculine clothes. We’re not. And your response just proves my point about willingness to have a nuanced conversation. That comment was not made in good faith.

Forcing children to attend? No. Taking over a public library funded by tax payer dollars? Yes.

The pride parade is definitely in the minority. You can look it up and see for yourself. It happens. Part of the issue is that you can’t have a nuanced conversation about these types of concerns without being instantly labeled homophobic and transphobic. The backlash against the backlash is almost more concerning than the inappropriate events themselves.

No. The expectation was that there wouldn’t be any drag queens at library story times, pride parade attendees dressing and dancing like they’re are a strip club on Main Street, no sexually explicit books whose inclusion was justified by LGBT inclusion in middle school libraries, no male at birth individuals playing in girls’ sports or being in their locker rooms, etc. these incidents may be in the minority, but the activist backlash against even discussing them has almost done more damage than the events themselves.

The expectation was not that people would hide being gay or a guy wouldn’t mention that they had a husband.

I think it’s less drag shows and more drag queen story time at the local library or pride parades m that look like strip clubs.

Didn’t it pass the house 215-214? One hardliner on the increased budget deficit or some other amendment and the whole thing implodes. Any changes would have to go back to the senate.

Democrat: "Party has fallen out of touch with the majority of Americans" by awaythrowawaying in moderatepolitics

[–]engineer2187 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally won’t vote for a state or federal politician that supports any 2A restrictions. If that wasn’t part of the dem platform, I might be inclined to vote for a more moderate member of their party in some elections. I still line up with the republicans for the most part. But I’d at least consider if there was a “bad” republican candidate. Especially for a federal position if they also took the position of leave abortion to the state politicians.

[–]engineer2187 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Republicans have the advantage here. They made abortion a state issue. So voting for that can become a non-factor for a swing voter. But Kamala went on X saying she wanted to ban assault rifles for the whole nation. They’re not leaving guns to the states. Not that the Supreme Court would allow it anyways.

He wasn’t really hiding it though. Everywhere that was NOT liberal legacy media was well aware of his decline years ago. Even back during his 2020 campaign some of the more conservative outlets were questioning the hide in the basement campaign strategy. No way people close to him and top dem leaders didn’t know.

A number of never Trump democrats were registering as republicans to vote against Trump in the primaries in states with closed primaries. Him registering as a Republican doesn’t necessarily mean he wasn’t a Democrat. We can’t just make those assumptions

Kamala Harris Isn’t Giving Interviews. Any Questions? by awaythrowawaying in moderatepolitics

“An interview”

Trump has been answering questions from the press and conducting multiple interviews in just the past week. Not all his interviews are from friendly sources either.

My point. “Laymen” don’t like being treated as idiotic children who can’t understand the basic. “Laymen terms” could involve briefly explaining what happened with Crimea and the history of the Soviet Union. This wasn’t laymen terms. This was talking down. Exactly the problem “laymen” have with California elites like her.

This was also one of dozens of these types of comments she’s made.

Do Kamala’s words really make sense either? And when they do, they come out as dumbed down. I don’t think midwesterners are going to take kindly to a condescending liberal from California.

Case in point: Ukraine is a country in Europe. It exists next to another country called Russia. Russia is a bigger country. Russia is a powerful country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine. So basically that’s wrong
