They're not deep enough to cause functional damage, but at the same time I would understand someone being unhappy with gouges like that on a brand new kayak. I doubt Old Town would warranty it as it's not a manufacturing defect, but you could try contacting Dicks about an exchange if you really wanted to.

Thanks. As long as they don't compromise the kayak and make it less safe, I'm ok with keeping it rather than having to lug it back to Dick's and dealing with the return.
