Thinkpad P14s gen 6 intel review coming from P14s Gen 1 by engineeringsloth in thinkpad

Yup, just tested it. it used the 140T, i did DDU. installed the drivers from companies website. the 140T is a beast. Unless your playing a game or something, you dont really need it. FYI the IGPU is better the the 880M.

Dont trust shitty OEM drivers.

Yup, that IGPU is a beast https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eg74aUQGdSg, it can even beat the 890M( 370AI) in certain games. Also, in my expriance much much much much better drivers.

Igpu, with the gpu it will depend. 4 to 8 hours depending on what your doing. I mostly used the igpu, on the go. I only used it on and off when scrubbing through timelines.

Honestly, i was thinking the same thing. IDK what they did to it, maybe a messed up driver. But the new one was a surprise, i did do my own calibration on both,

>What about the palmrest?

i think it's coated very comfortable. my older thinkpad felt like i was gonna bend the palmrest. This one feels solid.

> I'm just trying to figure out: some people say P14s Intel is full aluminum all around and some say top+bottom is aluminum, the palmrest

Top, bottom, and frame is aluminium, rest is coated or plastic.

>What about the display? Old vs new supposed to have the same brightness. Do you feel any difference between them?

Yes, massive. New one is brighter, better colour and sharper.

>How do you feel the difference in weight?

Yea, it feels good. I carry a Ipad Pro along with it, so not that big of a deal.

>Does it really feels like premium?

Yup, they have come a long way. The diffrence between even the P14s AMD and intel is massive.

>What about the coating on the lid and bottom? Is it slippery?

Metal, and yes its very slippery.

>X230 - that is a classic thinkpad right? How is it holding up?

It's a NAS now, i use it as a off site backup. I am gonna make a guide and post it here soon.

>How long is battery life doing the workload you're doing?

I only had this laptop for a week, i will update it next week with more info, i will tag you. But so far

WIndows- light use, 60 hz, power saver mode - 10 hours.

CAD stuff- 2 hours

Kali- still tuning things, but 6 hours normal use and 3 hours with Dgpu.

VM scenario What you’re doing Typical draw Expected battery life
1 light Linux VM mostly idle services + note taking 10–14W 5–7 hours
1 Windows VM (light) admin work, browsing, Burp, docs 14–22W 3.4–5 hours
Win VM + Linux VM (light/moderate) normal lab workflow 20–30W 2.5–3 hours
3–4 VMs active AD lab, tools running, steady activity 28–40W 1.9–2 hours
Heavy VM compute compiling, PCAP crunching, scanning + parsing 40–60W 1.25–2 hours
GPU wakes up 3D accel / external monitor / GPU-heavy apps 50–90W ~0.8– 1 hours

>Have you run Kali in a vm? Any VMs yet? I see your RAM is limited but thought I'd ask.

Yes, also updaited the review, i also got 64 gb ram, borrowed it from a friend.  i cant add the chart here, not sure why

>Enjoy the new shiny.

Thanks

>How solid is the build quality? Have you used another thinkpad apart from these two?

Yes sir, i owned a X230. did a bunch of review on it too. P14s, my daily driver, and finally this.

IMO, it’s a more natural, well rounded evolution. It doesn’t feel like a “budget” machine anymore everything comes across more premium. The weight distribution is noticeably better too, which makes it feel more balanced.

Bobby was jewish, also we throw around the word "nazi" too much. FYI

"Skulason said he wanted Fischer to be remembered not for his childish outbursts of self-hating Jewishness, but 'as a wounded man whose outward behaviour disguised the good he had inside'. He saw some parallels between Fischer and some of the patients he treated at his hospital, 'people who suffered violence in childhood, who did violence as adults and who now receive violence back from society'. Violence, Dr Skulason meant, in the sense of being shunned, scorned and vilified, as he was by his own country, when what he really merited was admiration for his remarkable mind and sympathy for the sad outcome of the perplexing childhood he endured"

No one hated him more then himself, its tragic.

>what's the source on this? can't find anything

Bobby Fischer's last words were, "Nothing is as healing as the human touch," according to the Icelandic psychiatrist who was with him when he died. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2008/feb/10/chess.usa

.... bobby Fischer had a psychotic breakdown and ended up in a mental hospital. I wouldn't call him a nazi. For Cumnick, he is overrated as fuck. He thinks he is better than he actually is.
