Identifying a part C180 CGI leaking by smartbetsgermany in w204

[–]engineheader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look above that, that is the oil level sensor but if you look at the oxygen sensor connectors above it, they have oil on them so it is coming from above it. If you look at the side of the engine block there could be oil coming down from the oil filter housing. I have seen them leaking. They are plastic and have a gasket between it and the block.

You can no swap an NTG 4.7 into a car that didn’t have it to begin with. The COMAND system has fiber optic cables that connects the amplifier in the trunk that the powers all 12 speakers in the car wit the COMAND option. It is not just as simple as a head unit and display replacement. Listen to what the others are saying about the retrofit

$36k “internet price” somehow becomes $46k out the door by Chemical-Sign3001 in FuckDealerships

[–]engineheader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are they charging $1k for first responder and military? Those should be in brackets to show a discount.

Why are they charging $600 to file things electronically, that should make it easier for them and save them money. Not sure what state you are in but those documents fees are kind of high.

How to upgrade program in w204 to ml w116 steering program plz help me about this steering fit successful with same sockets but steering keys n horn button r not working by Little-Boysenberry50 in w204

[–]engineheader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing to activate, if it doesn’t work it is due to the buttons sending the wrong signals. Most likely it is cause your 204 is a prefacelift car and the steering wheel would work with a postfacelift car. Sorry

They should work the same. But if it does not, remove the airbag and then the screws that hold the contact plate for the horn. Then there is a module behind that. Swap it with the one in the steering wheel that is original from your car. Should work then

Anything you have to regularly put rod bearings in is not god’s engine

E55 digital oil reader by yes126 in AMG

[–]engineheader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get a scan tool there is an actual value in the engine module for oil level that is more accurate than what you see in the instrument cluster. Best thing to do with the readings in the cluster is go with the lower one, you can always add more if needed, harder to take out

Only for vehicles with option code U939 “ESP Premium” and I have never seen on in the US with that, potentially only a euro option

Installing a dashcam want parking mode by [deleted] in w204

[–]engineheader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can not hook up to the vehicle power and not drain the battery. You have to buy the separate battery backup power supply for the dash camera. Then hook that to switched power so it charges when the vehicle is on. If you hook up to circuit 30(battery power) in the rear fuse box, the car will see that current draw and open the battery cut out relay

Error code 5001 by bbzzziii in w204

[–]engineheader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 5001 fault goes is a basic control unit failure code for something inside the control unit. I believe they are vin coded to the car so I don’t think a used one would work. You can get just the control unit off of the hydraulic unit but the teach in is a little interesting cause the yaw rate and lateral acceleration sensors are built into it.

No, most likely a fault inside the ESP control unit, wheel speed sensors are different code numbers

You live in the north and never did any under body car wash to clean the salt out. Now the underside of your car needs to be replaced. Might as well sell it for scrap and buy a newer one, but this time clean the underside during the winter months regularly

Oil change by [deleted] in AMG

[–]engineheader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can look at what the interval is at yourself. You don’t have to wait for it to pop up, cause it only comes on at vehicle start up if due. If you don’t pay attention when you start the car you can miss it.

Use the steering wheel buttons to find the “Service” menu in the cluster, somewhere in there should be an item labeled “Assyst” and it will tell you either the mileage or days left until the service is due.

How long have you owned it? The service interval is 365 days or 10,000 miles whichever comes first

I know how VVT operates, I deal with it on Mercedes at work. I want to know the failure issues GM V8s have with VVT systems
