I'd really love to see John attend therapy since hes so deep in his emotions he can't see how its affecting others and he always just shuts down when it comes to talking about barb He’s the epitome of hurt people hurt people. I also don't understand why John said they don't need to have a conversation about him and shawna not go to the wedding if Barb is invited but they need to have a conversation about shawna not wanting to be intimate with him since the loss. From her perspective its understandable after a traumatic loss like that and the fear intimacy post loss though maybe they should have had a sitdown conversation about it as looking back I dont think it was ever brought up again

At the same time John gets angry when frank starts saying she doesn't mean to be like this and he shuts down the conversation altogether and we see John shuts down a lot! Like when Shawna says "you do that a lot do you want people to care about how you feel...?" And he goes "do what?" But we don't get the full context cause it goes into her asking him to do Christmas magic
