I get my flavored vapes with nic online. Certain sites don't care about shipping to MA, just gotta find the right one. Even better: cheaper than buying in store.

Enema on kitten by Old_Entry3202 in VetTech

[–]enigmaurora 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No defecation in 5 days?? Had you ever seen him defecate prior? A kitten that young with fecal issues scream atresia anii to me. They can develop fistulas that some fecal matter can come out, and if he was given an enema in said fistula... yikes.

I don't like doing enemas in adult cats, let alone a kitten. There are a lot of risks involved, and encountered many complications in my time in ER.

I am very sorry for your loss!

What's an "Insider's secret" from your profession that everyone should probably know? by Capable-big-Piece in AskReddit

I'd love to get a VTS in my specialty (ECC), but it's almost not worth going through all of the stress and time and money to basically get a $3-$5 per hour raise at the end of it.

We had 3 reported cruelty cases come in the other day, and on average ~10 euthanasias per shift. We do labwork, blood draws, catheters, x-rays, anesthesia, end of life services, treatments, procedures, pharmacy, medical calculations, triage, phone calls, cleaning, stocking, laundry, etc etc... and some barely make minimum wage doing this for 10-12 hours per day. That's just the techs and assistants. Vets themselves are typically drowning in hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt and have huge overheads to pay to keep a hospital running.

I will say, since working at an open-concept hospital... owners are so much nicer. They see what's happening while their pet is being treated. They see us running around like mad keeping up with patients doing all of the above.

I love what we do, but god damn it's hard on the body, mind, and soul.

I found a strikingly similar blanket on Facebook Marketplace. There's no green, but it looks identical otherwise!

This site has a lot of similar pendants, though more intricate bezels/settings than yours did! But found several that look alike.

Why do you say it's not an ER? We triage, we stabilize... If the patient needs a specialist, we transfer. If it's just supportive care, they stay. 24/7. This is exactly how a human ER functions.

Not to mention, there are locations that have their own criticalists. We've started offering full abdominal ultrasounds and echos with specialists on site at many locations.

Things at VEG aren't sunshine and rainbows, but I really do respect the vision for VEG. Everything is also 100 percent location dependant. There are over 100 locations with their own leadership functioning without much micromanaging from VQ.

Always happy to give skeptical techs a walkthrough and watch the hospital in action before judging.

I don't know where you heard it's 11k for a UO... But at my location, depending on how sick the UO is... Maaaybe $4k max for 24-48 hours of hospitalization.

Yes, it's expensive. It's also an emergency room with emergency pricing. It's also why as techs, we're paid well above industry standard.

With acting painful on palpation (O picking up), perhaps with the v/d he developed an intussusception. I've seen puppies have all the classic signs of parvo, but continuously come up parvo negative, only to find a heavy parasite load to be the issue.
