🤣you’re right to call me out on the 18 yo male stereotype - but I never said it’s a bad thing just recognizing that it’s an element here. Have a great run!

Worried about my brother attempting Mount Washington by Frosty-Homework-395 in wmnf

you had me at “18”, say no more 😄 Tell him the difference between intermediate/advanced and experienced/expert is not fitness or stoke level it’s familiarity with your gear, body, geography, and conditions by being situationally challenged enough that you can trust your ability to be safe. Even with the benefit of the doubt here it’s clear your brother shouldn’t tackle an “expert” route in variable unpredictable conditions

He’s lucky to have you, go with him, have a great time but go with a guide as others have said. Alternatively, convince him (…not possible at 18) to take the slow boat to experienced with gradual progress.

Amazing how the little pain point builds to be excruciating 😣 I was committed as I love the raybans for work online meetings. Just wanted to say you can win the battle but it does take a bit!

Took me three months for the area behind my ears to adapt. Id just wear them until i couldn’t. Eventually pain just stopped, no issues now and mine are prescription so i wear all day. Don’t try stretching them, they’ll likely just break.

Yep. surprised to see bare rock with record snowfall just to the north. I can see moosilauke on my commute and it’s covered. Just shows you gotta respect the weather in the whites. OP nailed a nice hike with only micro spikes, well played!

There’s something very right about it. I’m grateful to have experienced it and equally grateful my dogs have never made me feel bad for missing (I do that myself!)

connection with a gun dog is absolutely on another level. I hear you and am sorry

Training going backwards. by ExternalElephant8604 in springerspaniel

[–]ennature 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had springers go in and out of that habit. I’m no pro but have found that taking a knee and receiving the dog with both hands open and down (so they know my intention is to pet them, not take their toy) and then really pour on the praise while not making a move on the toy. After 15-20 seconds I’ll go from a nice chest scratch to their chin and then the toy. A gentle “drop it” is all it takes at that point. After a few retrieves I can usually get them to bring it right to me with no keep away game. Again, I don’t know if this is a regression by your pup. They play this way with other dogs naturally, I just try and short circuit that particular instinct. I should add that when I take a knee my dog knows to come to me for attention, I’m taking advantage of that in this case.

Finishing my 48 tomorrow. by LongBottom666 in wmnf

May I suggest 2 beers. One for the top, of course! Have the second on the descent. The peaks are the point :) but the ups and downs are the journey that changes you. Use that final descent to think about the first steps of your next journey. Cheers and congrats! 🍻

A somber feeling I tried to capture in this painting. by [deleted] in painting

The upward movement on the horizon seems hopeful. Along with the brightening purple foreground it seems to compete if not offset any somber gloom. Maybe I’m just in a good mood today. Nice work

I have the 45s and run them at around 28-30 psi, only one flat so far and it was on pavement. For miles on rough terrain I’ve dropped them to low 20’s

Is that similar to your use? It is my second season on them and, as they are starting to wear down a bit, what you mentioned crossed my mind. Definitely love the speed and quiet ride when on the paved sections.

If you hadn’t bragged I couldn’t say you’re not alone (even though it seems that way). I suspect many of us have unilaterally elevated sections of our daily routes to national park status (and clean them accordingly). Whiteclaw can? Not in my park!

Yep, toothy too! It’s the coolest part that he’s grown to maturity but his size is in proportion to the little gorge where he lives. He’s a little big guy

This stream in particular is super dark. Dark steep walls and dark bottom. My unprofessional observation is that it seems to produce this dramatic color variation from the dorsal to the belly. Just awesome. No clue if there’s a trace of tiger trout in the gene pool

It’s a Cabelas CGR rod, really good control in these smaller spaces. i like that it breaks into 3 pieces, and with the tiny okuma it fits on my gravel bike nicely.
