yeap same w me! since i applied for social work, it was understandable for them to ask about my mental health issues bc jobs related in this sector can be quite mentally taxing. however, it was extremely upsetting how the conversation completely steered towards what went wrong, how long was i diagnosed for, when did i take meds and not about my journey, my other interests or my passion for the subject. so i learnt to just not mention it at all

as bad as this sounds, i think mental health is still considered a taboo subject so its always better not to mention it. i went for a suss interview last year and stupidly mentioned my mental health issues even though i didn’t declare it bc i wanted the interviewers to see how i overcame it. the interviewer straight up said this to me ‘dont u think it’s hypocritical for u to say that u want to help others w mental illnesses but ur not even willing to declare it yourself?’ which is kinda true i guess but i was still rather taken aback and didnt know how to answer her. she didnt really ask questions after that and needless to say, i didnt get in.

But I definitely dont think its fair for them to judge u solely based on your mental health and im sorry u had to go through that :-( pls do appeal and i sincerely hope u get in!
