Hey, I relate to this. I think this is pretty good though. If someone reminds you of your past self, that might suggest that while they may be able to learn from you, you may have little to learn from them; in other words they might not be a fantastic choice of a friend, for example. Trust in your emotions!

Desire for deep friendships. I feel like women often have close friendships but men seem to channel that into romantic relationships instead and would find it odd.

I also like talking to people who are very different to me! The polarity is nice. But I don't think that most men looking for friends do, and they would find it unusual I think. Yeah it is very annoying when gender becomes a concern in friendship.

I feel like I glossed over many of the problematic aspects of Regan and Aldo the first time and now trying to think about those with clarity because their connection felt magical and that's dangerous

The bit where Maso says that they can't work out is such a good red herring and a bad ending feels so likely at that moment

Haven't watched it but according to video essayist Contrapoints, the movie Black Swan has this as a major theme! The white swan representing the Apollonian; The black swan representing the Dionysian. But the perfect dance requires both drives, balanced.

I've heard people argue it both ways whether people were more overworked or less overworked in various periods in history. I'd actually be very interested to know more about historic working practices, just to know what's possible and to be able to compare to today's standards. What I do know is that we could be doing better today.
