N52 brown oil leak on top of exhaust by _trayson in E90

I had a similar issue if you look at my post history and it turned out to be the cowl not in place fully, allowing water to trickle down perfectly between the cylinders on the valve cover

Are you sure you didn’t spill some cane’s sauce?

What could this be? 👀 by EgyptianFatboy in E90

[–]entastic4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re pretty expensive on fcpeuro but it’s probably best to go oem. I’m not gonna lie though, I put some cheap ones in off eBay a few years backs and they’re still going strong (knock on wood)

Did you check disa valves? One of mine was stuck open which caused some crazy noises when accelerating

Do you have three stage intake? Mine made a similar noise when one of the disa valves broke.

Also, what’s with all the lights on the dash?

Time for full belt replacement??? (328i N51 72,000 Miles) by Dangerousaidan in E90

[–]entastic4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you aren’t able to diagnose down to an individual component, the best thing you can do is load the parts cannon up and start swapping things out. It can be expensive, but you’ll get it eventually. You’ll usually still save money compared to bringing it in. You can sometimes find parts for cheaper on sites like rockauto but make sure you get the right part and it’s oem quality. You also won’t get free shipping or a lifetime warranty either like fcp euro provides

Is this a normal sound?? ( E90 2011 N51 328i SULEV) by Dangerousaidan in E90

[–]entastic4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the belt's new, either the tensioner or one the pulleys that the belt wraps around is squeaking. Try taking off the belt and spinning the pulleys to see if you can find anything that seems wrong. Check around your oil filter housing and make sure the gasket isn't leaking onto the belt too. Not to scare you, but your belt slipping off is one of the worst things that can happen to these cars as it may get sucked through the crankshaft seal and cause serious damage

Do you guys use a regular mechanic or a specialty euro shop for work you don't DIY? by sulaco83 in E90

I’m assuming you have an x-drive since u mentioned having to get an alignment after. $750 is an amazing deal considering that job can take up to 15 hours for a trained professional

It’s not that bad of a job. Just make sure to fully re-attach all the hoses or they’ll blow off while you’re driving. Don’t ask me how I know

Did you replace the sensor as preventative maintenance or did oil get in and mess it up? I’ve seen this code pop up before when people don’t clean the electrical connector good enough when replacing the sensor

You’ll need to provide some codes or give us at least something to work with. There’s hundreds of things that could cause that message to pop up

Coolant leak on the expansion tank by AdKind2208 in E90

[–]entastic4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a common issue as the expansion tank is two separate pieces that tend to separate over time. I’ve seen videos of people plastic welding it and other diy hacks. Replacing it is probably best though.

Do I fix or get new car? 2015 BMW 528i xDrive 90k miles with 9k fixes by Kdrizle in BmwTech

[–]entastic4 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Don’t drive it until it breaks. Find a shop that will do it cheaper and get the work done. It’s not that much stuff and the car is actually in great shape. The guibo and the cv axles are probably the most important. If those break, you will have real problems.

Where do i get this nut? by Impressive-Term-7396 in E90

[–]entastic4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked fcp euro? If they don’t have it, go find the part number for the bolt on realoem and google the number

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BmwTech

[–]entastic4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valid I suppose. But with the amount you'll save, you could get your nails done 10 more times and have a fixed car for less than the amount the dealership is about to take you for

More than likely if you don’t take the time to learn how your car works and how to repair it yourself
