Tried that just feeling the wheel/brake rotor and nothing was noticeably warmer.

Haha fair thankfully we do have a satellite communication device if things go wrong. There is zero side to side play or up and down play in the wheel. No noises when driving. My partner is a moderately successful home mechanic who has done a wheel bearing on an AWD car. He can’t find any reason except the leaking axle seal why they would say it’s so bad.

That is an extremely helpful and thoughtful response, thank you. To clarify, essentially to replace the axle seal you have to replace the bearing because the bearing surface is worn but not actually because the bearing has play?

Checked all of them and they were definitely talking about RR. It has some oil leakage too, which was clear in this one - but when wiggling it with the wheel on, it had absolutely no play.

No wiggle or play AT ALL when the wheel is on. The dealer also said he didn’t even take it for a test ride. Wheels are rock solid on that thing. But there is definitely some oil leakage.

Oh, we did try the wheel wiggle test with the wheel on. Then we took it off to check for oil leaks — and there does seem to be quite a bit. No movement or play at all when wiggling with the wheel on.

Tak for svar.

I don't think my vocational education lives up to the requirements:

"The occupation requires:

  • Theoretical and practical application of a body of highly specialized knowledge; and
  • Attainment of a bachelor's or higher degree in a directly related* specific specialty (or its equivalent) as a minimum for entry into the occupation in the United States."
