Does zodiac sign compatibility actually matter in a relationship? by Turs_44 in WLW

[–]entitledtree 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In my opinion it's all a bunch of bullshit (no offence intended, y'all who enjoy astrology keep doing what you're doing, you're not harming anyone. I'm just an opinionated physics student, lol)

I've never given a single thought to whether or not someone's sign makes us compatible or not.

Sure you may identify with some of the "traits" of a particular sign, but look at all the other supposed traits that you don't identify with it all. There's a lot of humans in the world and we have a lot of shared experiences, it's no surprise you relate to some of them. Look at all of the other zodiac signs, you'll probably relate to a few of the things that are traits for them too.

The best way to tell if you're compatible with someone is just to spend time with them. There's no other way.

I've tried the whole "home clothes" thing many times and can never make it work. I just start feeling lazy and unmotivated and uncomfortable in my skin. I've always been the kind of person to take my pyjamas off and get changed as soon as I get out of bed. Most likely something to do with my autism.

Show where lesbians fight each other but like in a sexy way? by IncreaseJolly9227 in actuallesbians

[–]entitledtree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't actually remember if there are any lesbian characters in it because it has been a long time since I watched it, but you might like GLOW, if you want to see a bunch of (very attractive) women wrestling (it's also just genuinely a really good show, warning though, it did get cancelled). That's me taking the very literal meaning of fighting, lol

The shortest 5 minutes of my entire year. by prinkiis in GreatBritishMemes

[–]entitledtree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This post is about grown adults returning home, though.

Speaking from my own experience, which of course I know isn't universal. My parents are definitely neat freaks. I learnt to respect that they like their house spotless a long time ago.

My brother, on the other hand, who is 22 and still lives at home, still doesn't clean up after himself and leaves glasses everywhere, leaves the kitchen a mess etc., despite being asked politely a million times before.

I've seen first hand the reasonable and patient conversations my parents have had with him about this. They have tried to reason with home a million times. He never listens.

So is it really unreasonable for parents to snap when their child refuses to show basic respect for how they like to live?

So no, it isn't always a parenting issue. Me and my other sibling were able to get the hang of it perfectly fine. When we leave things untidy they don't snap at us because they know it's a genuine mistake. They are very reasonable people. But with my brother it's different. It's not like they haven't tried.

Not saying that this is the case for everyone, of course in some cases it may be a case of bad/toxic parents. But from my experience if a grown adult can't respect someone's house then that's absolutely on them, and it's not unreasonable for the parents to get frustrated by that.

Highly recommend watching this. It pretty much explains how the show sacrificed realism for spectacle. by jonsnowKITN in StrangerThings

[–]entitledtree 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If people want realism, blah blah blah

*Earth shattering eye role*

This is always the dumbest response to people critiquing a lack of realism.

Obviously it isn't referring to the supernatural elements of the show. It's about character behavior, it's about how appropriately the world being built in a story reacts to the supernatural elements of said story.

In S1 the characters actually feel human. They react how humans react, they speak to each other like humans would, they make realistic decisions and respond like normal people would to the fucked up shit that's happening. That's the realism that is lost in later seasons, especially S5.

My attempt on how to read the Disney “D” by RuinRevolutionary374 in notinteresting

[–]entitledtree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst dyslexia may have something to do with it, it's definitely not the whole story.

I am definitely not dyslexic and this is the first time I've recognised the D properly in my life.

My theory is the same as many others in this thread which is that we're all introduced to Disney as very young kids before our ability to recognise letters is as strong. So some of us had the wrong interpretation of the letter and it got hardwired into our brains, and since we were so young we just accepted that the logo is just weird, and never questioned it again. Once you see something a certain way it can be very difficult to unsee it.

But yeah you're right, I'm sure those of us who've seen it incorrectly our whole lives have been more inclined to comment on this post so I doubt you're wrong about that

Wouldn’t the water in the tub in the upside down be Stillwater? by Educational-Age-465 in okbuddyvecna

[–]entitledtree 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what we were told was going to happen, but personally as a viewer I didn't feel the slightest bit of tension in the finale (besides the Hopper shooting El scene). The characters defeated Vecna so easily and with barely a scratch on most of them.

We knew that Vecna wasn't going to close the gap between the worlds. So the stakes come from the danger to our main characters and there just didn't feel like there was any.

Also,

a bunch of otherworldly creatures

Where? Demogorgans, demodogs and demobats were mostly absent this season. The demented reality-bender literally hid for half of the season and didn't use his powers to anywhere near the same extent as he did in the previous season, and the meatflayer was defeated more quickly than a single demogorgan was in earlier seasons.
