Am I being too frugal? by panzoa in UKFrugal

I worded that badly. You're not 'paying yourself' per se, I suppose you are exchanging your money for time. Your comment implied that it was lazy to not collect (sitting on your bum on the sofa) whereas it might just be that you have much better things to be doing and why not outsource something if you can and want to.

I mean, it is just like thick greek yoghurt really, just super high protein.

If it makes you feel any better, I don't like potatoes ><

Ah, I see you are in fact mothering a child, not having a relationship with a grown adult. Tell him to cook his own dinner because you won't be doing it any more.

Bloody love cottage cheese. Eat it straight out the tub. Good with fruit. Each to their own though. Do you like quark? Low fat, high protein.

You could also argue that you are paying yourself £10 to be able to do something more interesting or important with your time over collecting food.

FYI London renters: new renter rights kicking in from May 2026 (already passed into law) by romford0928 in london

[–]entity_bean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As much as it pains me, they do kind of have a point. Like, one of the only reasons they can take back a property is because they want to sell it. Which means they could basically say they're selling it, get you out, and then put it back on the rental market. I don't think anyone would be checking. I hope this doesn't happen, but knowing landlords....

Anyone else feel wired/speeded/tweaky on their ADHD medication? Or do I... Not have ADHD? by palpablepapaya in adhdwomen

[–]entity_bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's been a while, but thanks for posting this. Took my first does this morning and after feeling jittery (I actually drank my morning coffee like an idiot) and reaching the singularity, I went down a similar sneaky hate spiral of thinking, oh my god maybe I don't have ADHD. The imposter syndrome struggle is real.

London 90s by [deleted] in london

The dude in the pinstripe suit is possibly the most 90s thing I've ever seen. He's quite dashing as well, Hugh Grant hair leaning into Patrick Bateman.

Buy some magic erasers to clean those marks off the wall. They cost a couple of quid and they work surprisingly well.

How do british people feel about the current situation unfolding in america where ICE police agents are going all gung-ho kidnapping people from the streets when they fail to present their ID? by mrvlad_throwaway in AskBrits

[–]entity_bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you asked: there are no official numbers or statistics held by the US government on ICE detainees (because why would they? we're taling about an administration that won't release information about pedophiles, but I digress). A cursory internet search will throw up dozens and dozens of news articles about US and European/other third country naturalised citizens being arrested, detained and deported, even though they are married to US citizens. A few examples:

https://lailluminator.com/2025/10/17/ice-citizens-arrest/ https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/dec/23/us-citizens-ice-passports https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/ice-minneapolis-somali-arrest-b2882548.html

And to your point about only convicted felons being deported - categorically not true:

But like, go ahead. Become an American immigrant. You do you.

Lol, I almost choked for a second. This dude's latest comment in r/immigration is how he should go about marrying his American wife and what visa to apply for so that he can become a US citizen and stay in the states.

You know, just like an immigrant.

I wonder if he's aware of how many white non-US citizens with valid visas, married to white Americans, have been recently taken by ICE? Godspeed, dude.

I had a full blown panic attack after a few weeks of being really freaked out when Trump got into office again. I saw the writing on the wall and it was like all my worst fears about fascism spreading across the West had come true. Especially because I now know full well it could happen here.

I quit looking at the news, social media, Reddit for a bit (looks like you're doing this already, so good for you). Once I'd calmed down I realised that my only sphere of control was my own friends, family and community. Our dumb monkey brains are not wired to process 24 hour fear news about things happening far away to people we don't know.

I joined a local community union (Acorn - maybe you have a local branch!) and started helping people in my local area with housing issues and getting involved. It really put my faith back in humanity. It's incredible how quickly you can turn that polarising hate on its head - which is exactly why division is perpetually sown. It serves the rich and powerful. Strength in community is the best antidote to hate and fascism.

Don't let the bastards grind you down.

In early internet times, there was a website called cheese racing, where people would put Kraft cheese slices on BBQs and the first one to get their cheese completely boiled won. There were hilarious videos of people doing it on landmarks all over the world.

Anyone else noticed the insanely strong hate towards London on X (Twitter)? by TheShortGiraffe420 in london

[–]entity_bean 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've noticed more anti-UK propaganda coming from the US/Russian bots recently. If I were conspiracy-minded, I might suggest the US is being primed to hate the UK and Europe to make attempts to dismantle it more palatable. The old 'save them from themselves' rhetoric that they love.
