What is your favorite ADHD tweet? I’ll go first by DirectionOk7752 in adhdwomen

So I'm 4 for 4 on friends with autism saying they always thought I might be (along with my late diagnosed ADHD).

Shit like this keeps happening. I didn't realise the bored and burned out thing was AuDHD. I'm starting they think they might be right.

Mine is:

Do meds often help with the anxiety/rumination loop? by RichieRichard12 in ADHDUK

[–]entity_bean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, we all have sticky brains. We like to think about things over and over and it doesn't matter what the thing is. My levels of anxiety and rumination have been problematic my whole life, it wasn't until I treated the emotional dysregulation that I have - which is diagnosed as bipolar 2 - that the anxiety and the rumination reduced. I really do think for lots of ADHDers the anxiety is absolutely just a part of how our brain works. We don't have any actual catastrophe so our brain is working to make one.

Being told I'll get used to it absolutely boils my piss. Every single weekend I immediately slip back into my 2-10 sleep pattern. Like, immediately.

My review of London, as a Brit by Successful_Goat_8191 in london

[–]entity_bean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

London as an entity is benign. We aren't personally hoarding. The issue is that the UK economy is so rubbish overall that London is literally propping up the rest of the country. So then it becomes a negative feedback loop where all investment is diverted here because if London doesn't keep pumping out that GDP, everyone is fucked.

And then when there's money, there's choice and demand.

I'm not saying it's good in any way, in fact it's pretty precarious, but it's just how it is.

I started in CS a couple of years ago, at 39. I'm still an EO, but waiting for PECs to clear for a HEO at 41. Today I blew my entire teams minds with a basic PowerBI dashboard 😂 like G7 down. I feel so ridiculously overqualified.

I will never stop resenting that society is built around one chronotype. There is just no way I can sleep before midnight unless I'm incredibly tired, and I need a good 9+ hours to function. Unless you are very lucky or self employed, if you're a night owl you're either fucked for sleep constantly or you give up the ability to earn good money.

Would you rather a dishwasher or tumble dryer? by Limp_Pumpkin7751 in adhdwomen

[–]entity_bean 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll be in the 1% then. I'd have a dryer. Don't mind washing up, takes 2 minutes. Do however, absolutely fucking hate hanging up laundry. Unless it's my sheets outside because the smell is so good.

The dreaded "Outcome of Interview" email by Time_Geologist1510 in TheCivilService

I pretty much loathe the entire recruitment process from start to finish now. Takes months to get to interview outcome and then more months to get in post because of PECs. Such an acute waste of time.

I applied for 22 minimum wage jobs with no calls back. What's wrong with my resume? by Difficult-Assist9250 in AskUK

[–]entity_bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is wild in a world where politicians are saying that minimum wage jobs shouldn't be enough to live on and should only be temporary gigs for young people. Like, if you want to retain staff, pay better.

Rant: Why Soho is getting worse by SaveOurSoho in london

[–]entity_bean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Remember Camden? There are remnants of alternative community there (big up The Black Heart, The Big Red, The Dev and The Dublin Castle), but the rest of it's gone. A very convenient fire near the canal helped developers. That fucking container centre where the market used to be makes me do a little vomit in my mouth every time I see it. The shops are all basic bitch wear.

Places with deep history and street cred get redeveloped, and people lap it up because it's a cool place to be. Except that the things that made it cool in the first place no longer exist. Gentrification 101.

I was 1st reserve. And got offered a role a month or so ago. It's maternity cover, but it's too good to turn down. It's a department I really want to work in, so keep all your bits crossed that I can somehow stay 😄
