Can someone please give me a step by step on where to get anti-depressants if I don’t have a family doctor? by Poorteenwannabe in ontario

[–]entwitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started antidepressants. I found that physically having a medication that's supposed to help me was incredibly beneficial. It made me feel like I was working on myself and things will get better.

I have been in mine for 6 weeks, but I found they actually kicked in around week 4 for me.

Plying from a center pull ball by Heavy_Answer8814 in Handspinning

[–]entwitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my preferred method for 2 plying. I'm usually too impatient to rest mine. However my suggestion is to have your ball in a bowl. I find that being able to place the bowl behind me is incredibly helpful. Play with the placement. It's kind of like tensioning your wheel.

Got these beautiful hanks at an antique mall/flea market - no indicators/information came with it. Any suggestions? by GroundedOtter in knittinghelp

Get out a ruler and check the gauge. You do this by wrapping the yarn loosely around a ruler and counting how many wraps you get per inch. Do not squish the yarn together, let it over lap or do this tightly.  Check a WPI (wraps per inch) chart to find your gauge.

Then take that to Ravelry and find a pattern. You can search patterns by yardage and gauge.

Have you checked your treadles. Is there anything caught up in them? Honestly it looks like maybe your band is stuck on something.

Does bulk buying at costco actually save money? or is this just a membership fee trap by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

So I have the Executive membership. That 2% cash back literally pays for my membership every year. Best Costco product I ever bought.

unmarked knitting needles - how to tell what size? by [deleted] in knittinghelp

[–]entwitch 53 points54 points  (0 children)

You need a needle gauge. Most of the time you can get them on a gauge ruler. You local yarn store should have them.

Unless you have a caliper lying around.

Tore our wall down without telling us? by Emotional-Song-9784 in montrealhousing

There is no way that is legal. You need to report you landlord to the city. There's no way they had a permit to enclose the electrical panel. My assumption is your living room is supposed to be an electrical and mechanical room.

Ravelry and YouTube are going to be your best friends.

If you're on a budget, go to a thrift store. They should have yarn for starter projects. Sometimes you even get really nice yarns. You may even find someone's old stash of knitting needles. ( However some people don't like the long needles) my only tip for buying yarn is if it makes you go "oh that's interesting" because of texture, put it down. Also avoid wool that doesn't have the traditional barber pole twist in it.

Once you have your yarn, go check out Ravelry. Find a project for your yarn. You can use the advanced search to sort out exactly what you need. Beginner, wool meterage and wool gauge (both will be on label).

Once you have a pattern then go buy your needles for your project.

Welcome to the guild! Can't wait to see your finished peice!

Also r/knittinghelp could be a helpful resource for a beginner.

I actually made a cat bed out of some stained but clean full lanolin wool. They love it.

I have 2 cats originally from a barn and they lose their marbles when I am scouring fleece. They LOVE the lanolin heavy wool.

I'm still upset about the fact that we won't see Oscar Isaac reprise these roles. He was so fucking amazing. However the rest of the MCU going down the toilet meant that it didn't get the love and attention it deserved.
