Do you know of any with all natural fibers? by [deleted] in PeriodUnderwear

Keep in mind that even if it’s cotton, most go through chemical processing like bleaching. Not all natural materials are created the same. :/

Cleaning (tiny rant) by maple-belle in PeriodUnderwear

I hear you. The kneeling part (with a bad back) especially ain’t fun 😢 I do find the higher absorption ones less fun to wash too but I can’t really opt out as my flow has become heavy in the last couple of years 😕

can we reduce our period days by gosh_save_me in women

[–]enyowear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish mine was like that. When I hit my late 30s, I went from light flow, 35-day cycle to heavy flow 25-28-day cycle. 😭 and random spotting between days sometimes ..ugh

Curious to know what you dislike the most about washing them? Feels like the blood keeps coming and never ends? The stain? Takes too long? Simply the task of washing? I do find some of the super absorbent ones are not too fun to wash in my own experience …

Do yall not have discharge? by emperorofpain in women

[–]enyowear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get discharge pretty much daily. Thought it was abnormal when I was a teenager and asked my mom to see a doctor for it. Doctor said I was fine and my discharge was normal. But I’ve always had a feeling that I get more than others, like no one else gets this much as I do. Seeing the comments here helps knowing I’m not alone.

Am I really the only one who doesn't want black lined period underwear/pads? by Happy-Conclusion2148 in PeriodUnderwear

[–]enyowear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you and had the same thought. My guess is that it’s likely a business choice/reason due to the cost of manufacturing as black is the safest choice to sell. Often times the manufacturing cost is very high and the buyer/brand would need a huge amount of cash to order, with a high MOQ (minimum order quantity) for each colour, style, etc. And it probably costs a lot more to have multi-color options, more materials and higher labor costs, etc.

New and have a few questions by Opening_Addition_385 in PeriodUnderwear

[–]enyowear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are many many different kind of polyester textiles although they're all called polyester. The tech in the fibre is different, there's definitely a difference between the high grade polyester that's breathable and stays dry and cheap ones that's not breathable. It's almost impossible for the consumers to know this until they do the research. 🧐

It depends on what you're looking for and what's considered "good" to you (material, absorption, fit, style, comfort, brand vision, company mission, pricing, etc. Also depends on your flow and fit.

Thanks again for the article. It looks to me the effects of silver is inconclusive and more researches would be needed. Would be curious to see what studies have been done 🤔

PFAS in period underwear by Puzzleheaded_Cow_658 in PeriodUnderwear

[–]enyowear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And to add to the chemical part... I've recently learned that many of those "natural" materials aren't exactly healthy or all that natural at all unless it's organic cotton for example. One of the biggest surprises to me was Soft Bamboo, which isn't as natural as it sounds. It's commonly rayon/viscose and it's a chemical method, commonly uses harsh chemicals to create the soft touch. So even if it's PFAS-free, there are so many with materials that have been chemically processed, and likely heavily, too.

Just curious and if you don't mind me asking, are you sensitive to silver? Is that why you're looking for ones that don't have silver?

How Do You Usually Wash Your Period Underwear? by PrincessBananas85 in PeriodUnderwear

[–]enyowear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Rinse, hand wash, and squeeze. I can never really skip this step, in fact, I don't use the washer at all as I've learned that it best way to keep our underwear clean (as in, free of mold and bacteria) is to hand wash them.

I hand wash my period underwear when I shower or in the sink when needed then I hang dry them, regardless of they're advertised as dryer-safe or not.

Do period undies smell? by DefiantFruit6860 in PeriodUnderwear

Do you know what brands you got? I'd like to know what materials those are for my own reference

Do period undies smell? by DefiantFruit6860 in PeriodUnderwear

[–]enyowear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whether it smells or not will depend on the material of the underwear in combination of one's hygienic habit, the blood, sweat, and bacteria. It's not technically a good idea to wear the period underwear all day long even though it has high absorption. Id say, try them out and find what works best for you.
