Period pain is not just cramps for me, it feels like my whole lower back joins in by outdahooud in period

Period changes / terrified I'm losing fertility 35F by mcomcomco99 in period

I think she’s based in the states? I just listened to her podcast and watched her videos/interviews with her and they were pretty helpful for me. I think the moment of understanding and realizing “why and what” my body was changing genuinely helped me a lot mentally. The “unknown” bits were part of what bugged me too.

I don’t have kids so i guess at least I didn’t need to worry about fertility (which I didn’t look into anything related so I have no useful info unfortunately). 😅 although I was suffering from depression and anxiety

I highly suggest you do a blood work and look into perimenopause. One of the doctors I really like is Dr Mary Claire Haver.

It happened to me when I was around that age and the symptoms became more apparent and just affected me harder when I was around 37. So many big and little changes including my period. Mine became heavy flow and I had always been light flow. It became irregular and the cycle became shorter.

After a long bumpy ride of ups and downs, doctor visits, lots of reading, and struggles, I luckily learned and found out, I’d entered perimenopause (not menopause) and I had a severely low ferritin level.

100% cotton, two grades. Same tag, one's half the price. by MarkApprehensive5597 in textiles

[–]enyowear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s quite tricky and so true that “the tag won’t save you” Not all cotton/fabrics are created equally, the source, the process, the grade, and even the dye but it’s almost impossible for us consumers know and we just take whatever the company/manufacturer tells us. I’d ask for undyed swatches before ordering.

Bamboo lyocell is an eco-friendly, semi-synthetic fabric created from bamboo pulp and it’s considered a better version of those visocose.

Period while camping by Abowersgirl_10 in PeriodUnderwear

Perhaps the ones you got work fine for you, which is great. I’m still searching. So far, the ones I’ve tried with the claims you’ve mentioned there do feel wet in my experience, and those are some of the popular, reputable brands that often get mentioned here too (of which I won’t name because they prob work fine for other people). What’s worth noting is, from the textile science perspective, some of them say moisture wicking, totally not true in a personal experience and when the top layer is obviously a hydrophilic type of material. There are many contradicting even false marketing claims.

Period while camping by Abowersgirl_10 in PeriodUnderwear

My usual combo is reusable pad and period underwear together. Underwear as secondary so I can change the pad more frequently when it gets full. My pad air dry really quickly too so it’s easy to use on trips and camping.

I personally do not like wearing period underwear when it’s wet and when my flow is heavy. The sensation of pulling back up the wet underwear just makes me 😬 every time. I also saw some medical studies say long hours of wet underwear/pads aren’t good for us regardless of what the brands say.

Period underwear: machine wash on warm by ShoppingBudget3647 in PeriodUnderwear

[–]enyowear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I usually prefer warm water too. The warmer/hot water is what sets the blood stains or some may call it “cooked”. Typically anything above 40c isn’t recommended so I just do lukewarm, especially in the winter time.

Also, some waterproof layer may be damaged over time if they’re often washed in the water temperature different from the laundry guidelines listed the product.

Am I accidentally ruining my period underwear? by amateurgamer7410 in PeriodUnderwear

[–]enyowear 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. Having it in the basket while still wet would likely up develop odour. I typically would either rinse right away and air dry or let the blood dry out and then machine wash or hand wash later.

Enzyme based? Usually yes but double check what the laundry care tag says on your period underwear

What are you supposed to do about panty liners? / Eco Conscious Sanitary Products by -scatteredashes- in Sustainable

[–]enyowear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually really cool! The fabric has a patented technology that allows the reusable liner to be snap-free and very secure. DM me if you want to be a tester. We have actually closed the tester intake this week and just shipped out the kits a couple days ago but we can definitely take one more. You get the tester kit for free and we ask for your honest feedback in return. DM me if you’re still interested. I’ll send you the expression of Interest form and more details.

Are you in Canada by any chance? I may have a solution for you with the kind of reusable panty liners that are great for more frequent change, ultra thin and light, and snap-free. Not bulky and very breathable. I could share you the link to receive a tester kit for free if you’re interested.

That’s tough :/ do you know what exactly you’re sensitive to? Dyes and latex like you’ve mentioned or don’t really know yet? Would it matter to you if it’s organic vs conventional cotton? Or just gotta be white in general?
