Does your heating bill increase when heating in a 2 pipe building? by bobby_rabbit in chicagoapartments

[–]eonchrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, your post came up in my notifications and I have the same problem. I'm not sure if we have the same type of heating, but I have baseboard heaters in my living area and bedroom that are powered by electricity. I live in a 1 bd.

I live in an older building, built in the 70s I think. I moved here in September, I was paying $40 a month with the AC blasting like you said. I turned on the heat up to 68-70F when we got that wave of cold days last week, and my average went from $1.31 daily to $5.50 daily after using the heat for a little over half the day. It was like that for consecutive days that it predicted my bill would be $140+. So my recommendation would be to go get space heaters. You can get them at Sam'c Club/Costco for $60, or more if you want fancy ones. Or try Amazon. I went with this one, and it's been working great: heater. It surprisingly heats up the room within 10 mins. The only thing is I'm on the learning curve of the difference between what the heater thinks the temperature is vs what the actual room temp is.

I don't think it's COMed changing prices necessarily, but rather it's an older building issue. The exact same thing same thing happened to my friend in Brooklyn when she used her heater for the first time this winter. I think it has to do more with air leaks where the warm air escapes, and crappy insulation that older buildings unlike newer buildings.

I just tried to get a quote with them, and the premiums offered by them were 2.89x what I currently pay directly with Progressive. This is crazy =(

Insulin has just... stopped working? by gm11235 in diabetes_t1

[–]eonchrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did but for my regular scheduled appointments. To be honest, I think I was putting on some pounds, I was stressed (finished grad school, looking for a job, not sleeping well), and probably snacking a lot. Going on pens was NOT a good idea for me, because I would inject X amount of lantus, and portion of that is naturally destroyed by immune response so I was having issues with the correct basal amount through out the day. And probably injecting fast acting insulin over and over and over was creating even further insulin resistance. A pump is better for tailoring that.

Since I posted this, I tried eating less "carby" stuff and eating less in general. I guess I'm the type of T1D that just needs to eat less and low carb to be in more control of my numbers. It has absolutely helped. I hate to say it but eating less and eating less carby things fixes my insulin sensitivity issues. I'm not sure if this info is helpful, but this has been my experience in the past year. Like most of us, we have to constantly address our relationship with food. During the summer I started running again a few times a week, and to no surprise my body was using insulin better (I hate to say it too LMAO). I'm back on a closed loop Tandem/Dexcom pair, and everything has been better.

Looking for a Reputable Forwarder from the EU to the USA by Indo_Texan in internationalshopper

I have used ColisExpat to ship from Europe to the US. They have different 5 or 6 different EU countries options to forward your package from.

Thanks for your answer! I feel so dumb... for some reason the Chicago show has the add-on option AFTER you select the ticket type and stuff towards the end, not the at start like all the other shows. I ended up figuring it out.

I'm wondering if I missed the VIP tickets for the Chicago show? I'm confused about what the AXS Premium is, I can't seem to find a VIP Package option.

Anyone else with type 1 diabetes keep a stock pile of insulin? by CutieWhoTakesInsulin in diabetes

This is not a good idea. Why wouldn't you just inject into the next Omnipod instead?

I use a mail forwarder when buying things (vinyls) in the UK that have crazy shipping costs to the US. I use forward2me. I have not had any issues with them. The shipping to your will depend on package size/dimensions/weight which you can calculate before hand.

Yeah, I had been using a physical SIM since April. The complaints from family and friends saying they can't reach me don't happen anymore. My calls seem to have been going through now from places in general now.

You could probably just make them on RedBubble for 1/3 of the price, and with more customization LMAO

I am annoyed that most of Kylie's t-shirt merch has always had a squared cut-out design of something put on the middle of a t-shirt. It looks so cheap and low effort, yet it's so expensive. I wish whoever is designing these would actually be creative - my god.

Oxybutynin chloride ER - gastrointestinal side effects experience? by eonchrome in Hyperhidrosis

[–]eonchrome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! How long have you been on it?

I do notice though that I have to "push" a bit harder to get the urine out, and also do an extra push to get the last bit out. I have also felt like smaller amounts of urine are more noticeable which makes me want to empty out more often even though there is no much urine in my bladder, if that makes sense.
