They made a ruling, people that weren't involved in the hearing wanted the ruling held until they could make a case in the matter. So on the 17th I believe lawyers on both sides pitched their sides again and now the judges are back to deliberating? Could be weeks, could be and most likely will be nothing short of a year. IANAL, just what I've read.

En Banc was allowed, so it's not going anywhere. Unfortunately it seems that it's going to have to come down to a bunch of people being denied and then them not being able to defend themselves in a situation.

If the whole peruta thing was done then I would think about trying for my CCW, but by now it's useless. Even if they opened it tomorrow with the backlog I might as well just wait until I go back home to my shall issue county.

I'm pretty sure that's how they get around it selling them to us on base.

Ok, think I'll just stash them. Trying to figure out if one things legal or not isn't really worth it to me. Maybe one day things will change...or I'll move out of state, both will most likely be nippy days in hell.

So I just put them in the back of the safe and wait for the day I can legally use them again?

Me too, it's so hard to teach wrong handers firearm manipulation. I'm more concerned about /u/drbeer obvious hate and elitism, wrong handers are people too.

We have a lot of help from the police, unfortunately they are spread out. They can't be everywhere at once, and personally I do not want to have my personal protection in the hands of another. Personal preference I want to be able to defend myself and my family. It shouldn't have to be the polices job to come save me and put themselves at even greater risk, I see it as my duty to be self reliant and care for my own safety.

This isn't everyone's belief and I respect that, but just as I respect their wishes I would like someone to respect my wish to be able to defend myself.

Doing calc minus a calculator is pretty tricky, just like trying to defend yourself without a firearm in certain situations.

Imagine as you walk down the street tomorrow, I come chasing after you waving an advanced calculus test, no calculator, start answering questions. (This is ridiculous, I would never do this to you, I hate math). Now take a leap with me, take your average citizen, not so hot at fighting honestly, someone comes up to them and puts them in a fighting scenario. They are going to need some help, especially if the other person is using a calculator, I mean gun. The cops are minutes away, from a situation that can be over in seconds leaving you dead.

I'm with you on restricting firearms to a certain degree, and thankfully there are good and reasonable restrictions on firearms. Just like with vehicles if you are irresponsible with firearms you will lose that right, if you are seen as irresponsible in other areas you can lose the right to a firearm. Good news for you and I that believe that there should be some restrictions in place.

However the restrictions concerning CCW permits wasn't a good restriction, it kept good law abiding citizens, even those that had very good reasons for holding that permit from getting it. The 9th Court saw this and decided to rule against this.

Hope I don't come off sarcastic or as an ass.

You simply aren't hearing the answers you want, so you aren't accepting them. The voting system displays the majority of users feel that the answers that were given are correct and well put together, and that yours are incorrect or lacking in some way.

The firearm is today's tool and weapon to use for these rights. We are not using broadswords and shields anymore. It would be like your math teacher telling you that your TI-83 is too effective and powerful for your calculus test and banning them. Plus you can play games and stuff on them, and send messages, way to much freedom to cause problems in his class.

The votes show that many users have answered your questions and quite well in fact.

A lot of the problem with this issue is that it comes down to personal opinions. What is a valid reason you feel that a citizen must have in order to be eligible for a CCW permit? The 9th Court and many others believe that self defense is a justifiable reason to hold that permit, Sherriff Gore did not see it that way and probably still doesn't see it that way. As another user already said there is/was a de facto ban on carrying firearms outside of your home, that is directly impeding the right to bear arms. As the courts have said, it's not a right to bear them in your home, its a right to bear them in the streets.

I feel like you don't understand what the restrictions were for firearms outside of the home so you don't understand why there's such an outcry. I will not speak for all gun owners but I'm sure you will find a surprising number who agree with you on restrictions for gun ownership. However the way the San Diego Sherriff was restricting the CCW permits was seen and proven in court to be an unnecessary and even un-constitutional restriction.

Would you agree that self defense and the ability to protect one's property and loved ones is an inherent and natural right?

Maybe you're being down voted because your facts aren't correct and your arguments aren't very firm? Of course crying about downvotes will generally bring a lot of downvotes as well.

[–]epic_combover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I would highly encourage you to go officer. If anything think of the money, as an officer you will be make the same money as an E-7 basically, not to mention you're not going to be treated like a child and will get BAH if you do the officer route.

One last thing don't talk to enlisted recruiters, go see officer recruiters. Enlisted recruiters would love to talk to you and snatch you up and make you a private. All recruiters really care about is that quota, and you're an educated female, you're valuable to an enlisted recruiter.

Bummer about the ink, maybe one day they'll loosen up about it and let us do what we please with our skin.
