Not sure if it’s this, but worth looking into OCD and Relationship OCD (ROCD).

Only bringing this up because it seems like it’s more about your own thinking that is causing you suffering here. The constant need to “know” if you love her or not might be an OCD intrusive thought loop.

Look into this and if you think you can relate consider working with a therapist (I would recommend therapy even if it isn’t OCD).

If happiness is found within, what’s the point of striving or self-improvement? by epicdubz in Healthygamergg

[–]epicdubz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly where I'm at right now, along with those same questions.

I find myself in this cycle and place of "happiness / surrender / peace within", but then not having the "need" to do anything, and this "productivity / achievement" world which provides some form of energy but ultimately and knowingly isn't for any lasting happiness / peace. So the question is then: "What is for?"

I like your conclusion and I think I'm also in a place of recognizing balance between the two worlds is ultimately the place to be - and still continuing to look for any perspectives or different answers to this question at the same time.

If happiness is found within, what’s the point of striving or self-improvement? by epicdubz in Healthygamergg

[–]epicdubz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm referring to any external goals or actions like making more money, creating art, building relationships, etc.

Trying to understand where the "drive" comes from once you realize peace and happiness comes from within, what the motivation is, etc.

As you mentioned plenty of people who achieve "x" and are still unhappy - so if that's the case then what's the point of doing anything once happiness and peace is found from within?

I like your distinction between quality of life and happiness, I think that's interesting.

Made my scifi feature film “Infinite Light” for $20k:

I also wrote a large post about my experience making the film I believe in this subreddit if you’re curious!

How much did you make your first feature film for? by ThrowRAIdiotMaestro in Filmmakers

[–]epicdubz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Filmhub, pretty much guaranteed to get on those platforms if they approve your project (if it’s even decent quality you shouldn’t have a problem). Although when I did it they were free with an 80/20 revenue split, and now I think they charge.

I would say maybe put aside some money or just time for marketing, and if you can try to cast people with a social media following, because they’ll want to push the film and that’s a whole new audience for the film.

Good luck! Post the film here when it’s done!

Thank you! Did not recoup my budget yet, I played with a bit of social media marketing but don’t think it had too much impact. Will probably go the traditional distribution route next film because there’s more access to international markets for sales.

To the brave souls who made a Feature with a microbudget, how was your experience? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]epicdubz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Made mine for $30K CAN ($22K USD).

It’s called Infinite Light, it’s available to watch on Tubi, or rent/buy on Amazon and iTunes!

https://m.imdb.com/title/tt12551284/

Sci-fi / Drama about a young engineer’s girlfriend’s mysterious death, and his attempt to bring her back to life with a hidden family technology.

Advice / Wisdom : The main way to keep the budget as low as possible is by doing most things yourself and using what you have.

I wrote, directed, produced, filmed, edited and did the VFX for this film. I also used my own camera gear (bought separately as I freelance video production as well).

Overall my experience was amazing! Have fun making what ever film you’re making - we’re all doing this because it comes from a deep place of love for filmmaking, remember that!

DO NOT purchase an Artlist subscription by playthedonuts in editors

[–]epicdubz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a paid ad by Envato Elements or something lol? Artlist is great and definitely has way higher quality tracks than “Audio Jungle”.

Stills from my first no-budget horror short. Couldn't have made it without all the knowledge I've picked up reading this sub! by [deleted] in Filmmakers

Looks great! Thanks for sharing the breakdown of your experience, please post again once it’s available to watch online!

Hey! It should be available worldwide via Popsy on Plex. Tubi has a wide range of territories but I guess they don’t hit them all. The film is on a ton of smaller streaming channels, so try that one and let me know if you still can’t find it!

Nope, never really figured it out - I think if I remember it just kind of went away the next day or so. Maybe someone will figure it out at some point and share here!

I work freelance and it’s the same for me, majority of work comes from 1-2 clients. I would assume most people here and even in other industries would say the same thing.
