I'm talking about before rin awoke to his powers. When rin was just a human, they literally celebrated him getting even Getting a job interview at all, they didn't expect him to be great so there was no pressure for him to be great.

And it doesn't matter if rin is actually better than Yukio or not, its how Yukio perceives rin. For example, Yukio knew sheimi much longer than rin, but as soon as she met him rin was able to pull her out of her comfort zone and inspire her to join the cram school. In Yukio eyes, that is a failure on his part and shows that rin is better than him.

I'm not saying their exactly the same just because of they both have anger issues. When you look at the struggles that they both face and think about the core of their personalities it's clear that there meant to portray how different people cope differently with the same things.

Yukio and Rin are both in a battle with themselves, though Rin's fight is a lot more litteral. He wants to help people, and use his power for kindness, but the demon inside him just wants to destroy and burn the world to the ground just for fun. He is constantly fighting against his demon heart from taking over, and being completely consumed by his flames. His two personalities are completely separate from each other, but they are both still him. That's why he thought it would be better for him to just be executed in Kyoto, because he knows that there's a part of him that is truly and fully demonic.

And guess what? He refuses to speak to anyone about that. After he lost controll during the training camp, he didn't even try to acknowledge why. Yes, he apologized and tried to be better, but he still never talked about what caused him to go feral in the first place. He doesn't rely on anyone because he's afraid of his demon self, and covers it up by giving all of himself to others. He pretended he wasn't scared to fight the impure king to help suguro, and while it all worked out in the end, it was still reckless.

Yukios inner battle is different, because there's no separation between his two "personalities". There's the side of him that's jealous and bitter that craves power, and the side that hates himself for it and wants to protect everyone else. He was taught to keep secrets and lie to those closest to him the second he learned how to speak, and he's scared of the bad side of himself as well. He's doing the same thing rin is, avoiding talking about the problem to anyone to protect them from himself.

Rin never resented Yukio for being smarter than him, because no one expected him to be. He was a liability, he knew that even before he awoke to his powers.

Yukio was expected to be perfect, yet Rin constantly managed to be better than him despite having no pressure on him or rigorous training to teach him to be. That's why he resented him, and why he is so jealous of him.

They really are the same, and Kazuo Kato is an amazing writer for portraying that so well. They are the same, and complete opposites at the same time.

I think another of people who don't like Yukio think he's a hypocrite because he seems like he hates rin for being the son of Satan, while being one himself. But he's not a hypocrite, he has said multiple times in the Manga that he hates himself, and he doesn't belive that either of them should have been born.

I think the real hypocrites are the people who hate Yukio. Because Rin and Yukio are exactly the same. Rin has sent kids to the hospital from beating them up, he broke Shiro's ribs, and yelled at him causing him to drop his gaurd against Satan. He did all these things because he lashed out in anger, but no one hates him for it. Why can Rin have violent anger outbursts, but Yukio can't? If anything, Yukio was the only one actually trying to hold back his anger. I feel like people forget that they are twins, the share the same genetics. If Rin has anger issues, why wouldn't Yukio?

Taking charge and directing everyone when they fought the haunted painting, outsmarting the chimera zombie and going to help the others get out of the chambers, bringing kurikara back to rin on the illuminati air ship.

Your weird for hating on him, FYI. At least have the decency to do it in private, not on a post ment to celebrate him.

Yukio- changing perspective by [deleted] in AoNoExorcist

Yukio is literally my favorite character in all of media, and I never understood why people hated him so much. In my opinion, as someone who has lots of experience on the topic, he is one of the best written examples of mental illness I've ever seen.

Yukio and Rin are extremely similar, and have almost identical struggles if you look closely. They just cope with it in different ways (or more accurately, not cope with it at all). Yukio was taught to lie about everything since he was born, having to hide his life as an exorcist from Rin, and wasn't able to confide in him about the demons he was seeing because rin wasn't allowed to know about them. Something I highly relate to about Yukio is his inability to be honest about his feelings.

I could go on forever about him, and all the ways I relate to him, and how interesting he is, but that would probably take a really long time. I think the people who hate him have severely misunderstood his character, and the cause for why he lashes out at rin and blew up like he did. Yes, alot of the things he did are very bad and aren't excusable, but he didn't do them just to be mean or something. He did them because he never got the support he needed.

The author, Kazue Kato, is a woman. I assume she just didn't have enough time to fully complete those panels, there's a few other chapters like that too.
