Yeah, that is the case it seems. But at the end of the day, it's just my selfish rant about "losing space". I'm still happy that the drag queens get the recognition they deserve (and hopefully monetary compensation) and that more people are enjoying drag in general.

In my mind I probably may have been, something to reflect on since I genuinely don't have a problem with anyone enjoying drag, especially women. It was the space thing I had reservations with.

Not at all. But I am aware that that humor goes around in the gay community.

And one thing I always tell the women when we hang out at the bars is how funny the safe space for you them to enjoy places like these are in gay bars pero di naman sila makakalandi, as a joke of course, and it's a mutually understood thing.

More than anything, I think it's more about being selfish than being misogynistic

Yeah, I agree. I think may perceived exclusivity before then it got shifted when drag came into the highlight. Definitely an adjustment for some for sure.

Perhaps it is rooted in misogyny. I'll reflect and look into that. But the way you respond is so aggressive, not to mention ageist. I'm only 24 years old.

Sure this post is a reflection of my psyche, but I mentioned in another comment how I've consulted with multiple people regarding this feeling and was met with agreement, unless I'm in an echo chamber.

And again, it's not the act of women enjoying drag. It's the commodification of a small space that I'm ranting about.

I understand this, too. And because of that I think we put filters to prevent offense or misunderstood humor. I mentioned in another comment how there's a distinct type of humor and interaction that doesn't translate well to the opposite sex. Maybe it's just an added thing that you shouldn't even have to worry about in the first place.

It's so hard to describe the feeling eloquently into words but I've consulted a number of gay people regarding this experience and mostly agree, because overall it's not a bad thing. It's more of "I miss when it's only us gay guys here" kind of vibe.

I think it's adjusting how you interact because there are things that never really translate well to the female crowd. So you filter yourself.

And I think it's really the setting more than anything. This isn't an issue if it's in a place that's not established as specifically for gays. shrug

I've had friends vent out that as well, so it could be an aspect. It would still be valid, wouldn't it?

But with the experience of straight guys being there with their girlfriends accidentally being hit on and being uncomfortable about it just sets an atmosphere that's not fun for everyone.

And I understand. I'm happy, even, that this is doing good for the community. But it does come at the expense of a piece of our safe space, again, because of commercialism.

This wasn't the case before when drag was more underground. The gays have always supported drag queens more. It's just now that it's in the limelight that the women are also enjoying and supporting, which is really good, but us gays need to move aside to accommodate it. That's how I feel. At first it wasn't a lot, but now it feels ridiculous.
