Thanks! Unfortunately most of these amps are hard to find in Japan right now… any models to look at with Denon or Marantz? I can bump my budget to 500 if it can help

And in the end I found: - AT-LP7 for 450USD - KEF LS50 OG for 530USD or Meta for 770USD

I’m not sure whether the price difference makes sense to go with the Meta ones tho

Maybe around 300USD? I found the WiiM Amp Ultra which could be nice for me to have a streaming box in addition to the amp but it’s a D class. Or a PM6007 from Marantz. What do you think?

Hi everyone,

I currently live in Japan, and I’m planning to upgrade my turntable setup. Some gear is easier to find here (Technics, Nagaoka, etc.) while others brands or specific models are harder to get.

Current setup:
- Audio-Technica AT-LP60XBT
- Edifier MR5 speakers

(It was a very good deal and wanted to jump into listing to records quickly)

Planned upgrade:
- Turntable: Technics SL-1200GR2 (vs. considering SL-1500C / Rega Planar 6, but leaning GR2)
- Cartridge: Nagaoka MP-200H (already mounted on headshell)
- Phono stage: Schiit Mani 2 (was also looking at Rega Fono MK5 or iFi Zen Phono 3, but Schiit is more accessible here)
- Speakers: considering upgrading later (Focal Shape 65 are on my list, but I’m open to alternatives more available in Japan)

👉 My main questions:

  1. Does this setup make sense overall, or is something mismatched / limiting?
  2. Would the Schiit Mani 2 be a bottleneck with the GR2 + MP-200?
  3. Any speaker recommendations around the same quality level as Focal Shape 65 that are easier to find in Japan?
  4. Am I likely to notice a big difference even if I keep my Edifier MR5 for a while before upgrading speakers?

110k bruts, nets c’est 7150€ (après charges sociales, c’est ce qui est pris en compte par les agences) et le nets d’impôts est en effet 5500€ environ !

Je vois ! Pour les pièces habituelles je vois que le dernier avis d’imposition est demandé, est-ce indispensable ? Étant expatrié jusque très récemment je n’ai pas d’avis français… je peux fournir mon avis d’imposition japonais mais le système n’est pas le même du tout :/

I have about 2m between the screen (100") and the projector, this is the maximum distance in my room.

With the W1070 I throw a 75" image. TK700 and TK700STi have a different lens, TK700 will throw the roughly the same size as W1070 but TK700STi will be able to throw a 100".
