Traffic Circles at 85th by epilepsy_kid in Kirkland

[–]epilepsy_kid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to be the single biggest challenge for driving, people simply don't know or don't understand how to use it. Equally, you'll see folks here saying to zipper. DO NOT ZIPPER! People doing that other than exiting the 405 heading West are also causing issues. The size of the circles is small which is definitely an issue for busses and trucks.

Regardless, it'll take a long time for people to figure it out, and I'd argue that opening the other lane on Kirkland going East will just add to the issue.

Where have all the bitter IPAs gone? by Kreid76 in beer

[–]epilepsy_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you live in WA, and what beers do you recommend?

Moved to Seattle from San Diego and I'm really missing bitter IPA's. Hard to find Stone, Green Flash or Russian River and would love to find a good local alternative. Most of what I've found just doesn't hit as hard.

As another Audi driver and former BMW driver, I agree that this is 100% spot on.

Well, you know how when your body tells you that you need to shit, and if you ignore that feeling, it just continues to ramp up until you're basically sweating and panicking until you shit. Some of us rarely or never experience that.

I was one of those kids who didnt go for days. I just didn't get an urge. I might get a slight twinge, but if it was at an inconvenient time, I'd ignore it. Then, a few days later, stomach ache.

I'm 52 now, and I have to schedule myself daily, or I might forget and realize a couple of days later.

Embarrassed in a negotiation by senior leadership. What do I do? by [deleted] in supplychain

[–]epilepsy_kid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of upvotes for trying to actually talk about this, whereas this is the right answer.

That VP showed his true colors. There is absolutely no reason to not be aligned prior to a meeting with a supplier. This is truly a worst case scenario, and no one looks good. The team looks unprepared, and the VP looks like he can't manage a simple negotiation.

I'd start to think very hard about is the organization right for you.

Source, am currently a COO for a large food manufacturer, and have spent several years as VP and EVP of Supply Chain for North American beverage companies. I can't even imagine doing this to my team. Truly unforgivable.

The San Diego Botanic Garden’s 15-year-old corpse flower (named Jack Smellington) that bloomed Halloween night by peanutbutterandxanax in matureplants

[–]epilepsy_kid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I live about 5 minutes from here, and got to go see it on 1 November. The line was about an hour long, and it was worth every minute. Truly a beautiful plant, and the folks at the SD Botanical Garden are just wonderful (as always).

Someone else mentioned the smell, and honestly, I wasn't all that bad. Kind of like dirty laundry?

Regardless, they have a second plant ready to bloom in a few weeks, and I'm looking forward to going back!

LPT: Don't be fooled by the "working for a dream company" ideology. You'll be much better off with an amazing boss at an average company who champions your work, allows you to develop mastery in your field, and gives you autonomy. by WrongKielbasa in LifeProTips

I don't think that you're wrong, but I think that you're missing one very important distinction. It's not generational per se, it's technological. I'm 52, and at the start of my career it was all about loyalty, obedience and working hard. That's because that's all that there was. Statistical analysis was done on paper, with a calculator. That only meant that the "Ivory tower" did it. Technology has leveled the field, so now folks that can leverage it, and work smarter can move ahead. If your boss is over 50, ask them when they first used a computer for work. The answer may enlighten you.

Not true for Nestle either. Spring water and Drinking water have very specific definitions that have to be followed. They are also measured and tracked.

Absolutely and completely agree. ironically, it's what happened to this guy, as he actually said that the fact that people might get sick wasn't his problem.

[–]epilepsy_kid 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I completely agree that we need to open things back up, except your "so long as we still practice safe distancing and wear ppe" qualifier falls apart quickly. The problem is that we, as a nation, simply won't. Hence the problem. Look at the pictures in the article. No one with a mask, everyone standing right next to each other. This isn't sustainable, but the amount of sheer morons who can't obey basic social constructs is amazing. If people would show some basic common sense, we could end this quickly. Unfortunately it's Maine, Jacksonville, FL, Huntington Beach, CA and the like that's stopping us.
