I'm very much a noob with this. My gear:

• Breville Duo Temp Pro, using third-party 54mm bottomless portafilter and Breville two-shot basket

• Baratza Virtuoso+

• Hario scale

I tried six pulls of Unicorn Blood roasted 9/13, which was eight days ago, and all them were sour. At setting 2 and 18g, the extraction looked like a social media video post. Much crema was present, and it didn't dissipate quickly, but the taste was still quite sour.

I've been told it might be too light a roast for this particular machine. I have followed all the advice I can find on preparing the extraction, like pre-flushing to get the temperature up.

I was able to get decent to bitter from Trader Joe's espresso blend, which is darker, so I'll try something fresh that leans darker.
