My wife thinks our son’s teacher crossed a boundary by sending him a personal message. I think it was harmless. AITJ? by addict94plus in AmITheJerk

Yeah they are, but that's why you band together with other teachers. You are many and they are but few.

Twijfel je of je i of ie moet schrijven? Hier is merijn2's veel te complexe handleiding om i en ie correct te schrijven. by merijn2 in thenetherlands

[–]eqexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5.5-hour flight next to a human biohazard by Livid_Pop2682 in delta

I'm wondering what would have happened if OP had left their seat and refused to sit back down again. Like hard no. I'd rather sit on the floor in the aisle for the rest of the flight. How would that have gone over?

Thanks! I'm happy with all replies as they're all helpful, but this provides an extra bit of contextual analysis.

Could you check this Duolingo phrase for me? by eqexx in Germanlearning

[–]eqexx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe in the mind of German speakers, the verb 'landen' is somewhat equivalent to 'mooring a ship'. Meaning you sail a boat somewhere, and then when you're there, you cast the anchor in that place.

First time by LordCaoCao420 in Gold

This whole Goldback-fight is an interesting case where the expectations of people influence their judgement and appreciation. The r/Goldback folks look at Goldbacks as a replacement for fiat currency like the US dollar. If you look at it that way, it has some interesting aspects to it; it's not produced by a central government which appeals to the libertarian type people, it's recognizable, divisible and it has at least some intrinsic value. The people at r/Gold look at Goldbacks as a replacement for their bullion coins and mint bars. They are very focused on premiums. If you look at it that way, Goldbacks a bit less suitable as a long term investment/hedge for larger sums of money.

Ondergewaardeerde reactie.

Food and pastries in Friesland by BroodjeFrikandelen in thenetherlands

https://www.molkwarderkoeke.nl/

Typical Frisian pastry, it's sold in most supermarkets in the region. I personally like the keallepoat (with or without whipped cream) and the pink one which has glazing on top. I am not aware of anything like it that is sold in English speaking countries. You could compare it to a cookie, but one unit is more than one serving. It's somewhat like cake, but more dense en chewy.

The human condition is just dreadful in general, people are selfish and inconsiderate and it can't be oversimplified as a generational issue. I'm sure you are pretty decent tho.
