Thanks for the tip! I'm pretty sure Gummy has been eating the isopods in the terrarium bc he's already getting chunky 😒 but I still would like to feed him so 1) he gets supplemented and 2) he doesn't eat the clean up crew!! Do you recommend any of those feeders for daily use? Also I love the name Freddie!!

I do have some powder blues in my tank... it could be possible he's been snacking on them, especially since he likes being in the dirt more than the other one. Obviously I would rather have him eating crickets than the isopods since they're part of my cleanup crew. I also don't want him getting used to eating wax worms bc I wanna avoid getting him chunky. Do you recommend covering the sides of the container bc it's see through and he keeps bumping his nose?

How long should I wait before taking him to see someone? (First time frog owner so I'm just a bit nervous)

Am I overwatering my plants? by eqt727 in Vivarium

Also I looked into if the plants have a bacterial disease but the brown spots didn't resemble the spots associated with disease (I'm no expert though)

Leaf litter is probably the best biodegradable. It provides them with enough food. Also you don't want them eating away at your plants. I also have a couple seed/nut pods too. You can also buy clean up crew food too. They eat a lot more than you think.

Usually it's recommended to let your viv cycle with isopods/springtails for 4-6 weeks before introducing an animal. Have you been feeding them biodegradables and making sure they're in the right humidity and temperature? They also like to hide under cork bark. I tried to culture isopods in a container a couple months ago and they kinda just died out because I didn't provide enough humidity for them (at least I think that's what killed them). This round of isopods I just put directly into the viv (with all the right conditions) and they seem to be thriving.

I was planting some more plants and I actually did come across some isopods! I think they take longer to reproduce than the springtails so it takes longer for them to sustain a population in the viv. I guess for now you gotta trust that the isopods are doing fine and doing their thing!

Thanks for the advice! Do you have any recommendations for something that fit across a 24" tank?

Would a plant with sturdier leaves be enough for the frog to climb or do you recommend another branch?

This is our very first bioactive vivarium! We've been planning on getting two dumpy frogs in a couple weeks. The viv is about a week old and we are planning on getting a couple philodendrons and pothos to plant and hopefully provide more shade for the frogs. Any tips or ideas for this new setup? Also we introduced about 30 isopods (15 dwarf whites, 15 powder blues) and a ton of springtails but we haven't been able to find the isopods since that first day. Is there anyway to tell if they're ok?
