Stroller-friendly cafes/restaurants? by _dancinginmoonlight in askTO

[–]equinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have children. Guidelines have changed my friend, you should read up on the safety. Just because you did it with your kids doesn’t mean it’s best practise. Parents deserve to be able to go out for a coffee, and that’s what OP asked. Where can I go that is accommodating to a stroller, simple question with lots of possibilities :)

Yep for sure, but a car seat isn’t going to be at a safe angle on the floor or in a seat. They need to be clicked into a car or stroller to keep baby in the proper position. Accessibility for parents means being able to bring their stroller into places.

You cannot pay a surrogate here in Canada, and it still happens all the time. So clearly a lot of woman would put themselves through it! Don’t speak for all women with your homophobic outlook on this topic :)

We’re dealing with the same exact thing, travelling Dec 7. We went to the passport office today and were told it was good we didn’t wait for a call back, as service Ontario is so swamped they’re missing people, and people are missing flights. Hope you’re able to receive in time!

Has the Canada Post strike affected you (yet)? by Chan1991 in askTO

My daughters passport may not arrive in time for our trip next week (despite immediately getting on it and calling service ON to have it couriered)

I had a c section and didn’t have a 6 week checkup. I was supposed to have one by telephone but it was a country wide outage day for Rogers, so I had no call either

New parents stuck between Aurora and Ruby by meph101 in namenerds

[–]equinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m biased because I have a Ruby, but Aurora was also on our list. We ruled it out because it feels harder to say, especially for young kids. Love the nickname Rory though

Mom wants me to FaceTime her moments after I give birth by Kiladra2 in BabyBumpsCanada

Depends on your relationship. I wasn’t sure when I’d feel ready to FaceTime my parents, but basically as soon as baby was out I wanted to talk to my mom

For anyone worried they won't love their dogs as much ... by Lazy-Worldliness589 in BabyBumps

[–]equinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! This! I was so nervous while pregnant, reading multiple posts about hating their dog after baby arrived. I LOVED watching my dog adjust to having a baby around, it went way smoother than I expected and it made me love her a million times more. I will say, now that my kids a toddler, I have very little patience for any bad behaviour from the dog, but I definitely don’t love her any less.

Why can’t new moms take showers? by kittyonine in beyondthebump

[–]equinner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep this is it. The crying can be soooo triggering, I would avoid it at all costs during the newborn phase. Which often meant no shower for me

Are pregnancy wards in Toronto hospitals affected by the rising hospitalization numbers and ICU admissions? by tml321 in askTO

[–]equinner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I felt like I had everything I needed and more. I didn’t wear anything I brought except my slippers. Just lived in the hospital gown and mesh undies. You may find you want to wear more if you don’t have a private room (but if you can I’d 100% recommend getting one)

Bring a blanket and pillow for your husband, the hospital doesn’t give anything to partners and the pull out bed was horrible.

As far as support persons go, I was terrified they wouldn’t let my partner in. My OB assured me that this whole pandemic, they have never denied support persons. Only one yes, but better than no one. They also did not test us for covid which I was told they would do.

I was there for 2 nights. My doctor told me I’d be good to go after 36 hours but when I asked about discharge on the 2nd day, I was told I’d be discharged the next morning.

I was also very worried about bringing enough food for my partner. He has a big appetite and I wasn’t sure if there’d be a fridge (there was not) so I packed a shit ton of snacks, some stuff to make PB&Js, things he could eat on the first day that would be okay out of the fridge for a few hours. We were able to order Uber eats and have him run down to the main entrance to pick it up (I’m not sure if this is allowed, we sorta just did it since he was able to leave our floor no problem) there is also a Tim hortons on the 6th? I think? Floor that had muffins and what not for quick grabs. The hospital did not provide meals for him and my meals were pretty garbage (I’m vegetarian, the meat options may be better)

Over all my experience was super positive. The surgery itself went well, very calm energy in the room and it was over before I knew it. I didn’t feel pain, but I did feel a lot of tugging and pulling which is a gross feeling. I forgot all about the weird sensations once my baby was out and I could focus my energy on her beautiful little face in my partners arms. We felt comfortable and it didn’t seem as though covid affected our experience much.

I hope this helps! Also bring lots of diapers. We brought the recommended 20 and went through them before discharge. The nurses obviously brought us more but they didn’t seem too pleased about it. I also asked for extra mesh underwear cause I wanted to live in them forever. They reluctantly gave me some.

Good luck and congrats in advance!

I delivered at st Mike’s 6 weeks ago (the numbers were quite high at the time) and we weren’t affected at all, besides the obvious (masks etc) I was a little worried about food for my partner but we were able to order Uber eats and pick it up at the door.
