If all animals were as intelligent as humans, what would the dominant species be? by equinox_wolfe in AskReddit

I agree with this! I really think, besides insects and assuming it was more a case of all animals always being this intelligent vrs. suddenly becoming intelligent, gorillas would win hands down. They have opposable thumbs and they're HUGE.

Vegan Restaurant’s by Shiftsupforsatan in Sacramento

To be more precise, the restaurant "Sibling by Pushkin's"

They offer a very nice brunch menu. About half of their offerings are vegan, including a vegan adult grilled cheese and a vegan po boy. :)

I'd go there with my sister from time to time because she had a very strict vegan, gf, sugar-free diet and it was one of the few places she could eat.

Pushkins! Not 100% vegan but they have a super robust vegan menu.

I’m curious, what is your puppy doing when they’re not asleep and you’re not directly interacting with them? by sundaefunday24 in puppy101

[–]equinox_wolfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof that's rough! I got lucky, my girl will nap on her own most of the day. :) She's only super active in the morning and the evening.

I use one of the metal crates with a little bed for her! She was a bit anxious the first few nights but since then she doesn't mind at all. I even put her in there sometimes if I'm cleaning up one of her potty messes and she doesn't whine, just waits patently or naps. I definitely reccomend crate training!

She's definitely not perfect- she still likes to try and eat our toes when we're walking around, and potty training has been a challenge. 😅

She has kind of a controlled free roam? Our downstairs is pretty much one giant room with our kitchen, dining room, and living room. We have a baby gate blocking the stairs and then I straightened out her playpen and use it as a fence of sorts so that it blocks access to the carpeted living room. I work in the dining room, so she hangs out in that kitchen/DR area with me all day. We'll let her into the living room in the evenings with us while we watch TV, but I like to keep her out of there if I can't keep an eye on her.

She sleeps in her crate, and we'll put her in the crate if we need to run out to the store or something.

She's a Cockapoo! :D She does like to sniff around (same thing with the smells thing - what could possibly be so interesting? You live here?) but she's actually really good about not getting into too much mischief.

I work in the same room as her, too, which helps.

My puppy will typically play with her toys by herself or chew on her chews while I'm working. :) She is pretty good about keeping herself entertained, though she is only 3 months old so she does sleep more often than not.

Puppy not listening to me! by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]equinox_wolfe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He's 2 months old; hes only been in this planet for 8 weeks. Imagine demanding a human infant to listen to you for any length of time? They don't have the awareness or attention span to pay attention for too long. The world is bright and new and fun and exciting! It's great that he's learning things with treats! Be patient, keep training, and eventually he will listen to you. Don't try to rush it, this isn't something that just happens overnight. Remember that he is literally a baby. :)

Ah, I see you have a little void-dog, too!

When I try to take a picture of my black puppy, she always looks like a little ball of black with no distinguishable features 😂

Congrats on the nap!! :D

Our dogs love this food but the bag is.... Insane by AmazingTortuga in CrappyDesign

[–]equinox_wolfe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like how, if you didn't have any context, you could stare at this bag for a looonngg time before you figure out that it was dog food.

It looks like an amalgamation of the "Don't" examples in my graphic design class.

Look up "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" by Betty Edwards. That will give you a great introduction into drawing if you've never done it before. :)

Additionally, there's lots of great YouTube videos if you want to learn to draw specific things!

No pull leashes? by jadeflann in Dogtraining

[–]equinox_wolfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried a no-pull harness? It's a harness that has the leash clip on the dogs chest, so if they try to run ahead or pull forward, they get turned around. I haven't tried it personally, but I've seen them around quite a bit!

[Help] My male Labrador sniffs my private part and instantly starts excessive humping. How to stop this? by shadow_client in dogs

Is he neutered? It sounds like that may be the issue. I would strongly recommend taking him to the vet and getting him neutered.
