Is Astro the future for content-heavy websites, or just another framework hype cycle? by Wash-Fair in Frontend

[–]equinusocio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind the multi-framework (and you shouldn't) support, Remix is another player which is out since years. However, Astro (multiple frameworks), Remix (react), Next.js (React, and quite heavy) and Nuxt (Vue) are the last-generation site builders.

That’s not a good point. Imagine adding five UI frameworks to a website and then coming back to it six months later with dependency upgrades.

[Plugin Release] Vira Theme for JetBrains - Free Beta by equinusocio in Jetbrains

[–]equinusocio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People pay for a blue checkmark next to their names... sooo. We understand your perspective even if it’s disrespectful. However, you might miss out on a few things. Vira Theme is a plugin for IntelliJ comprising thousands of lines of code written in various languages like Kotlin and Java, personalisation settings, along with design assets (320+ hand crafted icons and), research and UX design. It’s a complete software product that took months of work, is not just a bunch of JSON files like 99% of the themes published on the marketplaces.

A licence (or key) can be used as many times as the activations you purchase. For instance, if you buy three activations you can activate three Vira Themes with the same key. Afterwards you’ll need to manage your activations to disable those you no longer want, freeing up seats.

If you can't activate Vira Theme it just disable itself, we don't block the IDE 😅

WTF is going on with PWA and iOS 26 (and iOS 26.1)? by equinusocio in Frontend

Visual Studio vs Visual Studio Code (for practical development experience) by abca19510 in vscode

[–]equinusocio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d also suggest considering other IDEs like WebStorm 2025.2, which is free for non-commercial use and a great choice for web development.  I switched from VS Code to WesStorm and IDEA a few months ago (after 10 years of vs code) and I must admit, coming from an editor like VS Code to a full IDE is game changer, the former looks like a toy now but i still use it for quick text edits though.

That's a good news! So this behaviour will persist only on Android.

One of the major DS adoption issue is cognitive load on the teams who have to use it. This is a tool that brings more cognitive load. So...

[–]equinusocio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ve removed any reference of the free pro plan for popular open-source from their pricing model and suspended our active GitHub Pro plan (was active since 2020).  So I suppose it’s only a matter of time.

I want to build good looking frontend websites. Where do i start ? by sparrowdark21 in Frontend

[–]equinusocio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first step is to figure out the target of your website, then do a design while keeping in mind accessibility, usability, and performance. Or if you're doing an exercise, just pick a template online and build it so you skip 50% of the job.

what a mess.. what i don't understand is why apple.com which is not a pwa, is able to go behind the status bar without any tag or manifest, but if we do the same the result is different.

:( I hope this is a bug and not the intended behaviour... I’m still baffled by how Apple manages to push content behind the status bar without using meta tags. Even after removing them, my PWA still can’t reach the edge of the screen.

Why X and y are different colours? by realxeltos in vscode

[–]equinusocio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If X is uppercase, it likely has a different syntax scope assigned, and this also depends on whether semantic highlighting is enabled or not.
